// away with the fairies
In your land, there may be stories of the Fae taking people away. Perhaps you haven't heard of the Fae at all, or perhaps you are more familiar with them than others. No matter how well acquainted you are with the Fae, everyone around you has experienced the same fate tonight: Being taken by them. Partially, at least. For they did not want to kidnap anyone from their home and take them away from the life they knew. In a small jar of fairy dust, part of your soul was taken in the night and brought to a magical village by the name of Fable. On arrival, the Fae release you from the jar before waving their magic wands, and materialise this taken little part of you into a brand new you. From here onwards, your new life begins, shared among magical creatures from all walks of life. Here, you will be allowed to grow, thrive and enjoy the bounties provided to you by these mysterious and wonderful creatures. In exchange, they ask for a share of the magical fruit that you grow in your garden, in order for their dragon overseer to reclaim his own magic and find his missing siblings. After a briefing on your new life, you understand things as best as you possibly can. Now, it's time to settle into a brand new cottagecore life.
Welcome to Fable.
// arrival
Now that you are a resident of Fable, you have a brand new cottage, a garden, and a few tools to use! There's not an awful lot in your cottage, though: Just a cardboard box, a lamp, a cassette tape and a single bed. Fortunately, though, it seems that your kitchen is stocked with ingredients. Enough to make a pie, at least! Most of the village shops are currently closed due to the bad weather, so it seems like socialising with your neighbours might be your best shot at finding something to do. Something sparkly catches your attention before you realise it's a message board, advertising an array of tasks for bonus fruit. Did this thing appear out of nowhere just now? That must be the case, since you can swear it wasn't there a second ago. Perhaps the board will urge you to find some fellow people who are in a similar situation as you. The cold weather might inspire you to go fishing in the river canals, have a snowball fight, make warm drinks for people, get active in the kitchen or go sledding!
Or, just ... do whatever you want! This is your magical home now, might as well make the most of it!
snowfolk!
// do you wanna build a snowman?
While wandering through the village, you suddenly hear a voice appear out of nowhere. "Help ..." The voice speaks, rather ominously, which might alarm you. "Turn around ..." It says again, which may send shivers down your spine that aren't related to the cold. "Now, come closer. No, closer. Closer!" Jeez! You know this place is filled with magical creatures, but what on earth is taunting you at the moment? You can't see anything! There's just a Snowman in front of you.
"Hello." Wait, did that Snowman just--? "I am a Snowman." He did. He talked to you.
"I am lonely. Please build me some friends." Well, it's not like you have anything better to do ... "I will give you a reward if you do. Come to me when you have built, and I will give you a reward." Seems simple enough. You almost walk away to get started, until--
"HOLD IT!" He yells, very loudly for a Snowman. "You must use teamwork to build a Snowperson. The best Snowpeople are made with friends. Find a friend and build a Snowperson for me. Thank you."
Your final result will produce either an immaculate (or terrible) Snowtyke, Snowboy, Snowmam or Snowman who will reward you both with a random piece of winter furniture and an extra surprise!
Once you both feel satisfied with your Snowperson,
Please reply to this thread here in order to claim the rewards! Have fun!
the aurora ball
// ballad of the northern lights
In Finnish mythology, it is believed that the Northern Lights (Revontulet) are the creation of a fox who runs across the night sky. In Fable, this very same fox is the one responsible for the Northern Lights of their skies - and while he spends a lot of his time away from the realm to decorate the skies of many other places, he returns every Winter for a fantastic show (and incredible party!)To celebrate his return, Fable's residents gather in Skáld to host a ball and have a big party beneath the lights. And you have been invited! No need to worry about travel - with your magical invitation, you can be poofed there in an instant! In an act of generosity, the Fox of the Northern Lights has temporarily given you a dose of his magic in order for you to join in the fun! While the party is ongoing, you will have a glowing pair of aurora wings which allow flight, a dazzling new outfit, an immunity to the cold, and the ability to create aurora streaks in the sky!
// the aurora ball
The moment you accept the invitation and arrive in Skáld, the magical effects from the Aurora Fox will activate! Shimmering sparkles will envelope you before you find yourself wearing a brand new outfit and accessories for the evening, and they really are very sparkly! Your floating aurora wings spawn behind you in any colour, and just like that, you're ready for the party! Don't worry about the outfit you were wearing prior to this, it has been transported back to your wardrobe in your cottage. With magic, of course! The party runs for a few days, and it's a lot bigger than you imagined. Just how many mythological creatures are attending? You and the otherwordly attendees will be staying in a nearby wooden lodge that has been upscaled with magic in order to accommodate its large guests. The lodge has spacious rooms, complimentary meals, and even a heated outdoor pool!
The party itself takes place on a mountain adjacent to the lodge with an outdoor ballroom, Troll DJs playing through the night (with both upbeat and slow music), a bonfire, a food buffet and a bar!
Regardless of alcohol content, however, each drink will have a funny effect on the person consuming it.
Pink Pixie will make people feel more flirty and sensual, Minty Manticore will make people hyperactive and chatty, Blue Bunyip will give them a case of the blues by inspiring a little bit of sadness, and Purple Pegasus will make them sentimental and emotional.
We're excited to have you here, and hope you enjoy the prompts!

C.
All but one it seemed. He briefly looked around to see if perhaps there would be someone better than he to address it. Seeing that there wasn’t, he quietly approached and took a seat next to the stranger.
At first he said nothing, thinking over his next actions very carefully. He was not so good in such situations, and had never had to comfort someone before. But from his time among the humans he at least gathered that many did not like to be perceived in such a state, so he kept his gaze forward. Not perceiving. Nope. And slightly shifting the bulk of his natural bat-like wings to obscure the one next to him.
After a brief time of this not fixing the situation, he finally found it in him to speak.]
I know not what bothers you, child of man, but if it is within my power I would help if you wish.
no subject
Wanderer has been aware for a little while that someone has been sitting next to him, at least peripherally, but he absolutely would prefer to not be perceived like this. What he wants seems impossible, however, as leaving the party to go be by himself seems somehow even worse. For the moment, he’ll simply have to…wait until this passes.
Except it doesn’t pass. Was there something in his drink? Just goes to show he can’t let his guard down for even a second. ]
Don’t call me that.
[ His response isn’t as sharp as it normally would be, and he doesn’t look up at his companion just yet. ]
If you want to help, then get me a different drink.
no subject
[While he did not hold any disdain for humans, he certainly did see them as a fragile species. Many Fae thought even less of them, and would have been quite insulted had he made such a mistake with them. It had him curious what this one could be, but that could simply wait for another time, should he even remember.
At the request he pondered, he could indeed get him another drink, but given it was from the Fae, he was well aware there was a good chance it would only make the situation worse. Enough for him to at least consider throwing in a warning.]
If that is your wish, I shall comply, but I would advise against taking part in the bounty of the Fae folk. A penchant for mischief runs through many of our kind.

When she hears the Snowman complain about Wanderer's creation, Nahida decides to stop being a passive observer and step in. ]
Could you provide more constructive feedback?
[ He asked for no pickles, Snowman!!! :/ ]
no subject
For a moment, his sense of pride rankles, that he appears as though he needs assistance…though maybe she steps in to stay his hand before he decides to demolish both of the snowmen, which is a very real and likely outcome had he been left to his own devices.
Still, he sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose. It’s not like he’s glad to see her, or anything. ]
Do you not think I can handle this on my own, God of Wisdom?
[ he can’t ]
no subject
What is your idea of solving this issue? Other than violence, that is.
[ Rather than openly saying that she's glad to see him here, Nahida simply smiles, letting her expression convey that feeling. It might be easier for him to parse... or quite the opposite, really. ]

A
W-what did I do...?
[He looks to the person, almost teary eyed. Clearly he must have done something to offend this person if he got this kind of treatment!]
no subject
Wanderer can’t say he exactly feels sorry, much as it was an honest mistake to send snow flying towards another person. In fact, if the other boy wasn’t wearing an expression like that, he would probably actually laugh. The temptation is still there.
But he looks almost like he’s going to cry, and that’s…a bit awkward. What is he supposed to do now? Certainly not apologize. Ruca was the one who wasn’t looking where he was going, clearly. ]
You should pay more attention where you’re walking.
[ …After a moment, he sends another gust of wind Ruca’s way to blow the snow off of him this time. ]
no subject
Oh.
[He takes a few steps closer to the other.]
Thank you! [Yes, he's thanking the other now.] And I apologize. I'll be more careful where I'm going next time. [Yes, he is also accepting that this was all his fault. The other obviously never meant to blow snow at him!
A pause.]
...Do you need help with clearing the snow?
[Ruca, stop.]

c. they really should have warned them about the drinks :\
When she notices the young man nearby crying, she gets up, moves to the stool next to him. As easy as it would be to leave him alone and wallow in her own misery, that's not the type of person she wants to be. Not anymore.
Once she's settled, she leans in a little--careful not to touch him as she does so. In his place, she would lose it if someone touched her out of the blue, and if she's learned nothing else in her life it's that she'd rather treat others the way she herself prefers to be treated. She's no Amber, but she'll do her best.]
Are you all right?
they should have!!!
It’s not as though that’s anything new. He’s always alone. Why does he feel it so keenly right now…?
At the sound of a stranger’s voice he stirs, scrubbing at his eyes as he glances up at her. He can’t even summon up a scowl to look as unapproachable as he would like to - how troublesome. ]
Do I look like I’m okay?
[ Not as sharp as it normally would be, and he hates the way his voice trembles. Why does he feel like this? ]
no subject
It makes her all the more determined not to leave him alone right now. If only she was Amber. Amber would know how to handle this situation. All Collei can think to do is shrug and admit:]
No, you don't.
[She sighs deeply, staring down into her drink.]
I won't ask you about it. It's not my business. But I was thinking we could just... sit here together for awhile?

When he does look up, he looks…confused, but his ruffled feathers smooth soon enough as he wipes at his cheek with the back of his hand. ]
…I’m alright. [ Lying to a child….off to a good start. ] Pay me no mind. Are you here by yourself?
no subject
[ You don't have to hide it! Everyone gets sad sometimes after all. And finding yourself somewhere new and strange and alone... well, she was very familiar with that, too, even if she was doing her best to take this in stride and not miss her own family and friends, too.
From both her homes.
But still, she continues to pat his arm consolingly, offering him a small smile. ]

He approaches from behind him and stands beside him.]
Give us another chance. This time we'll get it right. [He looks at Wanderer's attempt at the snowman and then at his new snowman building partner.] You're not going to give up that easily, are you? Come on.
no subject
Which is probably why he chose to approach when he did. Wanderer’s mouth pulls to one side, his expression flat - this is hardly the turn of events he was looking for, even if Aether is sharp enough to appeal to his sense of pride. ]
Who said anything about giving up?
[ And now he can’t, without admitting he was defeated by a snowman. Well played. ]
I’m capable of building another one on my own.
[ Still ignoring the assignment… ]
no subject
Oh nothing. Clearly not you looking like you were going to stomp a poor snowchild into the ground. [It's time like these where he uses humor against such defensiveness.] I know you're capable, and I see it, but that you're missing one of the conditions of the task.
[They've worked together, but even he knows that 'working together' is very loose and mostly under the supervision of Nahida.] We've worked together before and I won't get in your way.

Itto clears his throat as he heads over after having heard the snowman's scathing review, unceremoniously poking the builder himself in the shoulder.]
Hey, don't take it too hard! Seriously, though, let a guy down easy, won't you?
[That part is directed to the snowman, along with a meaningful look.]
I'm sure this guy was doing his best!
Re: b
Still, Wanderer wasn’t exactly expecting this kind of attention. A spirited sort of rally from a complete stranger, although as he gives the man’s profile a cursory glance, he can’t help but notice his oni features.
Intriguing, but also, who invited him to be a part of this??? ]
What do you think you’re doing?
[ He just. Crosses his arms as he glares up at Itto. ]
I can handle a snowman on my own. Move along.

In a moment of fury and opportunity for swift retribution, she picks up the nearest object she can find and hurls it in the boy's direction. The object appears to be a medium sized container of sorts, primarily used for people to throw their wastage in. A trash bin, as fate would have it! ]
Cease your recklessness!
HEWWO??????
He's about to point out as much when she throws cylindrical receptable in his direction without warning. He isn't anticipating a fight, much less one with projectiles quite like this, and so the can smacks right into him, sending him sprawling onto the path that he just cleared. ]

so here's tighnari, smothering a laugh at the snowman's sass, and wanderer's way disproportionate reaction to it. ]
I think maybe it's just upset that you.. misunderstood the assignment.
[ but i mean, feel free to smash the snowman?? tighnari has absolutely no idea how he feels about a sentient snowman.. is it.. a real lifeform?? or just weird magic?? ]
come on let's go and play
Anyway, Wanderer shoots Tighnari a look when he offers his helpful “commentary”, crossing his arms over his chest. ]
Oh, I understood it. I just didn’t see any reason to do things the way they said.
[ A snowman still got built…why in the world would he need to have someone else help him and just get in his way? ]
