In your land, there may be stories of the Fae taking people away. Perhaps you haven't heard of the Fae at all, or perhaps you are more familiar with them than others. No matter how well acquainted you are with the Fae, everyone around you has experienced the same fate tonight: Being taken by them. Partially, at least. For they did not want to kidnap anyone from their home and take them away from the life they knew. In a small jar of fairy dust, part of your soul was taken in the night and brought to a magical village by the name of Fable.

On arrival, the Fae release you from the jar before waving their magic wands, and materialise this taken little part of you into a brand new you. From here onwards, your new life begins, shared among magical creatures from all walks of life. Here, you will be allowed to grow, thrive and enjoy the bounties provided to you by these mysterious and wonderful creatures. In exchange, they ask for a share of the magical fruit that you grow in your garden, in order for their dragon overseer to reclaim his own magic and find his missing siblings. After a briefing on your new life, you understand things as best as you possibly can. Now, it's time to settle into a brand new cottagecore life.

Now that you are a resident of Fable, you have a brand new cottage, a garden, and a few tools to use! There's not an awful lot in your cottage, though: Just a cardboard box, a lamp, a cassette tape and a single bed. Fortunately, though, it seems that your kitchen is stocked with ingredients. Enough to make a pie, at least! Most of the village shops are currently closed due to the bad weather, so it seems like socialising with your neighbours might be your best shot at finding something to do.

Something sparkly catches your attention before you realise it's a message board, advertising an array of tasks for bonus fruit. Did this thing appear out of nowhere just now? That must be the case, since you can swear it wasn't there a second ago. Perhaps the board will urge you to find some fellow people who are in a similar situation as you. The cold weather might inspire you to go fishing in the river canals, have a snowball fight, make warm drinks for people, get active in the kitchen or go sledding!

Or, just ... do whatever you want! This is your magical home now, might as well make the most of it!

While wandering through the village, you suddenly hear a voice appear out of nowhere. "Help ..." The voice speaks, rather ominously, which might alarm you. "Turn around ..." It says again, which may send shivers down your spine that aren't related to the cold. "Now, come closer. No, closer. Closer!" Jeez! You know this place is filled with magical creatures, but what on earth is taunting you at the moment? You can't see anything! There's just a Snowman in front of you.

"Hello." Wait, did that Snowman just--? "I am a Snowman." He did. He talked to you.

"I am lonely. Please build me some friends." Well, it's not like you have anything better to do ... "I will give you a reward if you do. Come to me when you have built, and I will give you a reward." Seems simple enough. You almost walk away to get started, until--

"HOLD IT!" He yells, very loudly for a Snowman. "You must use teamwork to build a Snowperson. The best Snowpeople are made with friends. Find a friend and build a Snowperson for me. Thank you."

Well, there you have it! You have been tasked with finding someone to build a Snowperson with. And of course, because these Snowfolk are magic, they're going to be quite particular about how they want to be built. They may berate you and act fussy during the process. You must divide the work between you and your acquaintance in order to complete your Snowperson. Get creative with hats, scarves, shapes, face designs - and whatever else you think the Snowperson should have!

Your final result will produce either an immaculate (or terrible) Snowtyke, Snowboy, Snowmam or Snowman who will reward you both with a random piece of winter furniture and an extra surprise!

In Finnish mythology, it is believed that the Northern Lights (Revontulet) are the creation of a fox who runs across the night sky. In Fable, this very same fox is the one responsible for the Northern Lights of their skies - and while he spends a lot of his time away from the realm to decorate the skies of many other places, he returns every Winter for a fantastic show (and incredible party!)

To celebrate his return, Fable's residents gather in Skáld to host a ball and have a big party beneath the lights. And you have been invited! No need to worry about travel - with your magical invitation, you can be poofed there in an instant! In an act of generosity, the Fox of the Northern Lights has temporarily given you a dose of his magic in order for you to join in the fun! While the party is ongoing, you will have a glowing pair of aurora wings which allow flight, a dazzling new outfit, an immunity to the cold, and the ability to create aurora streaks in the sky!

The moment you accept the invitation and arrive in Skáld, the magical effects from the Aurora Fox will activate! Shimmering sparkles will envelope you before you find yourself wearing a brand new outfit and accessories for the evening, and they really are very sparkly! Your floating aurora wings spawn behind you in any colour, and just like that, you're ready for the party! Don't worry about the outfit you were wearing prior to this, it has been transported back to your wardrobe in your cottage. With magic, of course!

The party runs for a few days, and it's a lot bigger than you imagined. Just how many mythological creatures are attending? You and the otherwordly attendees will be staying in a nearby wooden lodge that has been upscaled with magic in order to accommodate its large guests. The lodge has spacious rooms, complimentary meals, and even a heated outdoor pool!

The party itself takes place on a mountain adjacent to the lodge with an outdoor ballroom, Troll DJs playing through the night (with both upbeat and slow music), a bonfire, a food buffet and a bar!

Fancy a drink? There are cocktails and mocktails being served all night by the Troll bartenders! Who knew Trolls were so good at mixing drinks? Cocktails and mocktails are exactly the same in taste, except mocktails don't have any alcohol in them. If your character doesn't like to drink, they can still enjoy the tasty beverage without getting drunk!

Regardless of alcohol content, however, each drink will have a funny effect on the person consuming it.
Pink Pixie will make people feel more flirty and sensual, Minty Manticore will make people hyperactive and chatty, Blue Bunyip will give them a case of the blues by inspiring a little bit of sadness, and Purple Pegasus will make them sentimental and emotional.

[Ruca blinks. Then he blinks again when the gust of wind blows the snow away from his hair.]

Oh.

[He takes a few steps closer to the other.]

Thank you! [Yes, he's thanking the other now.] And I apologize. I'll be more careful where I'm going next time. [Yes, he is also accepting that this was all his fault. The other obviously never meant to blow snow at him!

A pause.]

...Do you need help with clearing the snow?

[Ruca, stop.]

[ Indeed, stop. Wanderer looks plainly perplexed by this reaction, and for a moment, he wonders if this boy is trying to pull the wool over his eyes and fool him into a false sense of security. He's done it plenty of times before himself, after all, playing at innocent to gain the trust of fools.

But even this seems a touch to earnest to be that. He shuffles his feet uncertainly, crossing his arms over his chest as he continues to frown deeply. ]

If you were to help, what's to stop you from getting in my way again?

[ Wanderer won't tell him what to do, so long as it doesn't negatively impact him, but he doesn't love the idea anyway. He's hardly seeking out company. ]

[The words makes Ruca pause and think about it. He frowns a little, brows curving up in concern, but at the same time he can't argue with the other's words.]

Sadly, I don't think I can assure you in any way that it won't happen again. I can only promise that I'll do my best, but I understand that it's not enough.

[He tries to think very hard about this.]

[ He is trying hard...and Wanderer notices the effort. He can't begin to fathom why that effort is focused towards lending him a hand, but it almost feels wrong to turn him down.

Not that that should stop him. He's not responsible for this boy's feelings.

...

...A moment later, he huffs. ]

Fine. But if you get buried in snow again, it's not my problem.

[ Probably. ]

[He perks up right away after hearing that.]

Oh, of course! I'll have only myself to blame.

[He would never blame anyone else for his mistakes. How could he?]

I'm Ruca. What's your name?

[ Such a simple question, and yet one that gives him pause. The name the Traveler gave him is still new to his tongue, and he’s unused to giving it, though there’s nothing else he wishes to be called at this point.

He could go by no name at all, but…that doesn’t feel right, either. Not when he's chosen to own who he is. ]

You can call me Ren. [ He hesitates a moment. ] Don’t forget it.

…How do you plan to help, anyway?

I wouldn't forget it, so please, don't worry.

[He has a very good memory!

As for the other question...]

Do you have a shovel? Or... I guess I could try to melt the snow away with fire magic.

[He'd hate if something caught fire though.]

[ He begins to shove some snow aside with his Anemo powers again, only pausing a moment to shake his head. ]

Nope. I didn’t need one, so I didn’t pick one up. [ A beat. ] “Fire magic”?

[ He doesn’t see a Vision, so he must be referring to something else. ]

Hm, I can take a look and see if I'll find one.

[Ruca gives him a curious look.]

So your powers... they're not considered "magic" where you're from? [How curious!

Ruca focuses for a moment, showing the other his palm and soon a small flame flickers on top of it. Normally, he wouldn't be able to show it to anyone, considering that in his world people capable of using magic are viewed as monsters and bringers of the world's end. But here... here it seems he doesn't need to worry.]

Something like this. But I'm not sure if it would be useful now.

No, it's not magic. At least, not in the traditional sense.

[ Traditional by Teyvat standards, anyway. Magic is what the Abyss and its disciples use to manipulate the elements, and even he knows of no one able to do the same without either joining their ranks or being granted a Vision.

So seeing someone seemingly human just whip up a flame without a Vision in sight is a rather novel sight indeed. ]

That would depend. How long can you keep it up for?

[The flame quickly dies down in his hand.]

Not too long, sadly... I can also cast a proper spell, but that would probably cause damage instead.

[It really isn't that useful of a power to have. Unless you enjoy fighting.]

Maybe I should really go find a shovel.

[ Wanderer, on the other hand, would find that a very useful power to have…

He huffs a sigh. ]

I can show you where the storage shed is. It’d be more trouble if I left you to find them on their own.

[ He’s not doing it as a favor or anything!! ]

[Wait until you see that he can even summon meteors.]

Oh thank you! [He gives him a big smile.]

You're so kind. Please lead the way.

[You're already good in his books, there is no escape.]

[ Oh, he’s definitely going to have to do something about that. He can’t let Ruca having a decent opinion of him stand. ]

Over this way, then.

[ He crosses towards the other side of the path he was on, near one of the many houses along the path. There’s a shed outside, and when he opens it, they will find it’s full of snow shovels, and something else he couldn’t identify. Some sort of machine. ]

That says it’s a “snowblower”. Whatever that means. Try it if you want.

[ He doesn’t need a machine to blow snow. ]

[Watch him never change that opinion. Ever.

Ruca steps close to the strange machine and gives it a very curious look.]

I've never seen anything like this before... I wonder how it works?

[It's probably not that complicated, but after a moment of inspection, Ruca steps away.]

I... I'd rather not use it unless I know what I'm doing. So I'll look into it later!

[He grabs a shovel. The safer choice.]

Let's... get to work.

[ That's a shame. Wanderer didn't want to bother trying to figure it out either, but that doesn't mean he wasn't curious, too. Maybe another time...

Or he'll just watch when Ruca gives it a try. ]

Alright. Just don't work where I'm facing.

[ If he doesn't want to get a faceful of snow. Now the work should go extra quick, at least. ]

Of course!

[He'll get to work now, incredibly eager to be doing this. It may be surprising to see that despite looking quite scrawny, Ruca actually has no problem shovelling large amounts of snow.

He's strong!... But his stamina is lacking so he has to take a small break after some time.]

[ Well, would you look at that...Wanderer is actually a bit impressed with how much Ruca has managed to do. The walkways in this part of the neighborhood are looking much easier to traverse already. ]

Huh. Not bad.

[ That's practically a glowing compliment coming from him. ]

[And he's taking it as such. He beams at Wanderer.]

You really think so?

[Smile, smile.]

I may not be very strong [He's heavily underestimating himself] but I like to be useful.

[ Strength isn't measured in brawn alone, and Wanderer is hardly surprised that Ruca is underestimating himself, given the way their interaction has gone so far. ]

Hm. [ That's...a familiar sentiment. ] Then rest assured that you were.

[ There's no reason for him to pretend otherwise. His tendency to be blunt has positives and negatives. ]

[His smile is warm and quiet.]

I'm glad to hear that.

[He takes a glance around.]

Hey, maybe once we're done here... I could make us something to eat? And some tea.

[It's nice to eat and drink something warm after working in the snow!]

[ He doesn't really recognize this invitation for what it is, so for a moment, Wanderer can only stare at Ruca with a somewhat bewildered expression, tilting his head. ]

...Huh? Why would you do that?

[ Please explain this concept to him. People don't invite him to do things with them simply for pleasure. ]

Um... I just assumed some food after work would be a good idea...

[He starts panicking a little. Even his bullies always wanted him to go get them food!!]

I-I'm sorry! I understand that you'd be tired of me by then!

[ With a sharp sigh, he lifts a hand, trying to dissuade Ruca of that impression before it gets worse. ]

No, that's not what I meant. I just - [ Huff. He glances away, tipping his head so his features are partially obscured by his hat. ] I don't...get invitations like that often.

[ Or ever, really. ]

But if that's what you want, then...fine. I'll come.

Ah...

[He smiles a little. He really understands that, considering that he rarely got invited anywhere himself... Unless, when his schoolmates tried to force him to do something.]

In that case, I will always invite you. It makes me happy to just spend time together.

[Look how pleased he is now!]
