In your land, there may be stories of the Fae taking people away. Perhaps you haven't heard of the Fae at all, or perhaps you are more familiar with them than others. No matter how well acquainted you are with the Fae, everyone around you has experienced the same fate tonight: Being taken by them. Partially, at least. For they did not want to kidnap anyone from their home and take them away from the life they knew. In a small jar of fairy dust, part of your soul was taken in the night and brought to a magical village by the name of Fable.

On arrival, the Fae release you from the jar before waving their magic wands, and materialise this taken little part of you into a brand new you. From here onwards, your new life begins, shared among magical creatures from all walks of life. Here, you will be allowed to grow, thrive and enjoy the bounties provided to you by these mysterious and wonderful creatures. In exchange, they ask for a share of the magical fruit that you grow in your garden, in order for their dragon overseer to reclaim his own magic and find his missing siblings. After a briefing on your new life, you understand things as best as you possibly can. Now, it's time to settle into a brand new cottagecore life.

Now that you are a resident of Fable, you have a brand new cottage, a garden, and a few tools to use! There's not an awful lot in your cottage, though: Just a cardboard box, a lamp, a cassette tape and a single bed. Fortunately, though, it seems that your kitchen is stocked with ingredients. Enough to make a pie, at least! Most of the village shops are currently closed due to the bad weather, so it seems like socialising with your neighbours might be your best shot at finding something to do.

Something sparkly catches your attention before you realise it's a message board, advertising an array of tasks for bonus fruit. Did this thing appear out of nowhere just now? That must be the case, since you can swear it wasn't there a second ago. Perhaps the board will urge you to find some fellow people who are in a similar situation as you. The cold weather might inspire you to go fishing in the river canals, have a snowball fight, make warm drinks for people, get active in the kitchen or go sledding!

Or, just ... do whatever you want! This is your magical home now, might as well make the most of it!

While wandering through the village, you suddenly hear a voice appear out of nowhere. "Help ..." The voice speaks, rather ominously, which might alarm you. "Turn around ..." It says again, which may send shivers down your spine that aren't related to the cold. "Now, come closer. No, closer. Closer!" Jeez! You know this place is filled with magical creatures, but what on earth is taunting you at the moment? You can't see anything! There's just a Snowman in front of you.

"Hello." Wait, did that Snowman just--? "I am a Snowman." He did. He talked to you.

"I am lonely. Please build me some friends." Well, it's not like you have anything better to do ... "I will give you a reward if you do. Come to me when you have built, and I will give you a reward." Seems simple enough. You almost walk away to get started, until--

"HOLD IT!" He yells, very loudly for a Snowman. "You must use teamwork to build a Snowperson. The best Snowpeople are made with friends. Find a friend and build a Snowperson for me. Thank you."

Well, there you have it! You have been tasked with finding someone to build a Snowperson with. And of course, because these Snowfolk are magic, they're going to be quite particular about how they want to be built. They may berate you and act fussy during the process. You must divide the work between you and your acquaintance in order to complete your Snowperson. Get creative with hats, scarves, shapes, face designs - and whatever else you think the Snowperson should have!

Your final result will produce either an immaculate (or terrible) Snowtyke, Snowboy, Snowmam or Snowman who will reward you both with a random piece of winter furniture and an extra surprise!

In Finnish mythology, it is believed that the Northern Lights (Revontulet) are the creation of a fox who runs across the night sky. In Fable, this very same fox is the one responsible for the Northern Lights of their skies - and while he spends a lot of his time away from the realm to decorate the skies of many other places, he returns every Winter for a fantastic show (and incredible party!)

To celebrate his return, Fable's residents gather in Skáld to host a ball and have a big party beneath the lights. And you have been invited! No need to worry about travel - with your magical invitation, you can be poofed there in an instant! In an act of generosity, the Fox of the Northern Lights has temporarily given you a dose of his magic in order for you to join in the fun! While the party is ongoing, you will have a glowing pair of aurora wings which allow flight, a dazzling new outfit, an immunity to the cold, and the ability to create aurora streaks in the sky!

The moment you accept the invitation and arrive in Skáld, the magical effects from the Aurora Fox will activate! Shimmering sparkles will envelope you before you find yourself wearing a brand new outfit and accessories for the evening, and they really are very sparkly! Your floating aurora wings spawn behind you in any colour, and just like that, you're ready for the party! Don't worry about the outfit you were wearing prior to this, it has been transported back to your wardrobe in your cottage. With magic, of course!

The party runs for a few days, and it's a lot bigger than you imagined. Just how many mythological creatures are attending? You and the otherwordly attendees will be staying in a nearby wooden lodge that has been upscaled with magic in order to accommodate its large guests. The lodge has spacious rooms, complimentary meals, and even a heated outdoor pool!

The party itself takes place on a mountain adjacent to the lodge with an outdoor ballroom, Troll DJs playing through the night (with both upbeat and slow music), a bonfire, a food buffet and a bar!

Fancy a drink? There are cocktails and mocktails being served all night by the Troll bartenders! Who knew Trolls were so good at mixing drinks? Cocktails and mocktails are exactly the same in taste, except mocktails don't have any alcohol in them. If your character doesn't like to drink, they can still enjoy the tasty beverage without getting drunk!

Regardless of alcohol content, however, each drink will have a funny effect on the person consuming it.
Pink Pixie will make people feel more flirty and sensual, Minty Manticore will make people hyperactive and chatty, Blue Bunyip will give them a case of the blues by inspiring a little bit of sadness, and Purple Pegasus will make them sentimental and emotional.

Oh, jeez.. here, why don't you come warm up in my cottage for a little while? Then maybe we can see about getting you some warmer clothing..

[ he doesn't have much money, but he's made a little bit, from selling seashells and other random shit he found on the ground. amazing! ]

[THEY SURE IS OUT]

N-nah, I'm fine! This is good enough!

[His teeth are still chattering, so it's definitely a lie, but what's he supposed to do, admit he's cold like a sensible person? Sounds fake.

He steadies his grip on his cup enough to take a sip, flashing the other man a fanged smile.]

Real tasty, th-thanks!

[ are you being STUBBORN, itto? two can play at that game. ]

I'm glad you like it.

[ but he's sure gonna push. tighnari's expression levels out a bit, serious and stern. ]

But I'm afraid I must insist. I don't need the guilt on my shoulders, if you collapse from hypothermia and die out here. You're not at all dressed for this weather.

[Oh, yeah, this guy definitely looks serious.]

Hypothermia? I'm way too hot-blooded for that, I'm—

[He screws his eyes shut as he finds himself suddenly interrupted by a sneeze.

... okay, maybe this guy has a point.]

U-uh, m-maybe you're right...

[ itto, meet mom friend. strict mom friend. he might be small, but he will crack your back over his knee, oni man!!

thankfully that doesn't need to happen, as itto learns his lesson right away, with a sneeze. tighnari's demeanor softens, and he smiles, before gesturing with a nod of his head toward the row of cottages behind them. ]

Come on then, it's not far.

[ and he'll begin walking, tail swishing behind him. ]

[Good, someone needs to mom this idiot. Some firm encouragement definitely seems to have done the trick this time around.]

R-right. Okay, I-I'm followin'!

[He rubs his hands over his upper arms as he hugs himself to keep in what little warmth he has left, shaking some snow off one of his boots as he starts to head in the direction that's been pointed out to him.]

Th-thanks— wait, who am I thankin'?

[YOU GOT A NAME, NEW MOM?]

[ excellent! for all itto might look like a big brute, tighnari knows his type.. he seems to have a good, gentle heart, so he'll do his best to not be too stern, but.. well that's asking a lot. ]

Oh, of course. Sorry. My name is Tighnari. You wouldn't happen to be from Teyvat as well, would you?

[ he says, just.. offhandedly.. he doesn't expect it to be true.. ]

[His eyebrows shoot upwards at the mention of Teyvat, but this definitely wouldn't be the first person from home he's run into— he just hadn't met this one beforehand.]

Yeah! You, too? Seems like there's a bunch of us— Arataki "The One and Oni" Itto, in the f-flesh!

[The cold takes some of the confidence out of his introduction, but only a little.]

If you've ever been to Inazuma, you must have heard of the Arataki Gang!

[ this guy is such a handful already.. ]

I can't say that I have, but I also haven't had the good fortune to travel to Inazuma, either. A shame, I hear the landscape is breathtaking, I'd love to see it for myself someday.

[ when that day will be, he surely cannot say, and he worries, sometimes, that that day will not come at all, but at any rate, he leads itto to his cottage. it's quite bare for now, but it's cozy, and still warm from the embers in the fireplace, which tighnari quickly begins to tend to. ]

It'll be warmed up here in no time.

[Oh, you ain't seen nothing yet.

He ducks a little as he follows Tighnari inside, just to avoid bumping his horns against the frame of the door, and lets out a long exhale of breath once the warmth hits him. It's definitely a huge difference when compared to outside.]

Okay, you were right, this is definitely better. So— never been to Inazuma? Where're you from?

[ for your viewing perusal! tighnari's cottage is still small, and sparsely furnished, but it's got a cushy looking cream sofa with a wooden end table, all right in front of the fireplace that has burned low. tighnari himself is warmly dressed as well, comfy against the cold, it would seem. in the windows sit several bottles and cups full of cuttings from plants he's found in the forest.

kneeling in front of the fire, tighnari throws on another log or two and begins to build up the flames again. ]

I'm from Sumeru, but I'd love the chance to visit Inazuma to study the flora there. Chinju forest seems especially fascinating.

[Whoa. This place is pretty fancy, by his standards— his own cottage is still sparsely decorated; he's spent most of his time out and about since getting here, despite the cold, trying to make sense of this place and make himself useful. Maybe he should spend some time working on his place, too? The idea of staying put for any real length of time is still wild to him.]

Hey, I've spent a ton of time there! People say it's haunted, but it's a great place for hunting for onikabuto!

[The chattering of his teeth has definitely slowed at this point, though he continues to hug himself as he moves to stand by the fire, closer to the source of heat as Tighnari tends to it.]

Can I, uh— do anything to help?

[ it's fine itto, IT'S REALLY NOT FANCY AT ALL, it's just a couch and a faded wooden endtable.. it's fine.. mans doesn't even have a kitchen table yet. but he's got a tea kettle, that's important. ]

Just warm yourself up while I put on some tea.

[ soon enough the fire is crackling nicely, and tighnari is standing straight again, an easy smile on his face. he speaks over his shoulder as he moves toward the kitchen to put the kettle on. hope you enjoy tea, itto!! ]

Onikabuto, huh? [ he's speaking through the archway; this cottage is smol, easy to talk through rooms. ] Oni-kabutomushi, "Ghost Inazuman Rhinoceros Beetle." My father wrote a report on those, when I was young, he even brought a few home from Inazuma to keep as specimens.

[His boys hang out in caves and abandoned structures half the time, my dude. This is a palace.]

Alright— I can do that.

[He doesn't sit, realizing his clothes are wet from the now-melted snow and not wanting to get that all over the couch or floor, but standing is probably better anyway, encouraging his blood to start pumping the way it's supposed to as he puts his hands out in front of the fire, fingers spread, showing off those glossy black claws of his.

He looks back over his shoulder towards the other man, offering him a toothy grin.]

Yeah, you know 'em? Those little guys are pretty incredible, huh?! We could all learn a lot from them!

[ okay you know what that's fair ]

I do. I think I might even still have one of the specimens back home, I'd have to go digging through my things.

[ he definitely means a dead bug in a box. ]

But you're right, they're quite fascinating. Their affinity for electro is quite unique.

A specimen?!

[Like he knows what that implies.]

You train beetles, too? Bet there's all kinds of beetles in Sumeru that are great for fighting, gotta wonder how they'd match up against an onikabuto.

[NATURAL BORN CHAMPIONS etc]

Train beetles? No, nothing like that.

[ he shakes his head. ]

My father is an entomologist, so he studies insects for a living. He was very interested in the onikabuto and its many properties.

[ and he sure did give his son one of his.. samples. sorry, itto. ]

An entomologist...

[He manages to echo the word, although it feels weird in his mouth, and he's probably going to instantly forget it.

Yep, there it goes.]

Sounds like a pretty cool job, actually. Didn't know there was anyone that did stuff like that!

[ the kettle is boiling at last! so tighnari begins steeping. ]

Oh yes, there are people who study all sorts of different things. I think his job is fascinating, even if I'd rather study plants, myself.

[ not surprising, considering the many cuttings on his windowsills.. ]

So, you train onikabuto?

[Plants are kind of boring if you ask him— you can’t even fight plants with other plants— but this guy has been real helpful, and nice enough to let Itto come in and warm up at his place, so he’s not about to insult his choice of hobbies. To each their own!]

Yup! Grand champion of onikabuto fighting! I’m an expert.

[Well, he’d be a champion if they handed titles out to people based on the sheer number of matches they’ve had. He’s got to be closing in on a thousand without a win.]

Those little guys have a warrior’s spirit. Love to show you some of ‘em, but, uh… they didn’t get to come along with me, I guess.

[ itto just needs to learn about the wide world of carnivorous plants, tighnari could probably find some cool ones he's interested in. and some funky mushrooms, too. ]

I see. Well, perhaps you could regain some from Prism, if you've grown any fruits.

[ get on those fruits, itto!! ]

[Hey, if you're giving lessons, pal, he's so in.]

I guess I could! Hadn't thought about that, which is kind of silly, huh?

[He grins sheepishly, rubbing at the back of his neck. It's kind of the cornerstone of this place's economy.]

That's the whole reason we're here, right? The fruit... thing. Growing fruit.
