In your land, there may be stories of the Fae taking people away. Perhaps you haven't heard of the Fae at all, or perhaps you are more familiar with them than others. No matter how well acquainted you are with the Fae, everyone around you has experienced the same fate tonight: Being taken by them. Partially, at least. For they did not want to kidnap anyone from their home and take them away from the life they knew. In a small jar of fairy dust, part of your soul was taken in the night and brought to a magical village by the name of Fable.

On arrival, the Fae release you from the jar before waving their magic wands, and materialise this taken little part of you into a brand new you. From here onwards, your new life begins, shared among magical creatures from all walks of life. Here, you will be allowed to grow, thrive and enjoy the bounties provided to you by these mysterious and wonderful creatures. In exchange, they ask for a share of the magical fruit that you grow in your garden, in order for their dragon overseer to reclaim his own magic and find his missing siblings. After a briefing on your new life, you understand things as best as you possibly can. Now, it's time to settle into a brand new cottagecore life.

Now that you are a resident of Fable, you have a brand new cottage, a garden, and a few tools to use! There's not an awful lot in your cottage, though: Just a cardboard box, a lamp, a cassette tape and a single bed. Fortunately, though, it seems that your kitchen is stocked with ingredients. Enough to make a pie, at least! Most of the village shops are currently closed due to the bad weather, so it seems like socialising with your neighbours might be your best shot at finding something to do.

Something sparkly catches your attention before you realise it's a message board, advertising an array of tasks for bonus fruit. Did this thing appear out of nowhere just now? That must be the case, since you can swear it wasn't there a second ago. Perhaps the board will urge you to find some fellow people who are in a similar situation as you. The cold weather might inspire you to go fishing in the river canals, have a snowball fight, make warm drinks for people, get active in the kitchen or go sledding!

Or, just ... do whatever you want! This is your magical home now, might as well make the most of it!

While wandering through the village, you suddenly hear a voice appear out of nowhere. "Help ..." The voice speaks, rather ominously, which might alarm you. "Turn around ..." It says again, which may send shivers down your spine that aren't related to the cold. "Now, come closer. No, closer. Closer!" Jeez! You know this place is filled with magical creatures, but what on earth is taunting you at the moment? You can't see anything! There's just a Snowman in front of you.

"Hello." Wait, did that Snowman just--? "I am a Snowman." He did. He talked to you.

"I am lonely. Please build me some friends." Well, it's not like you have anything better to do ... "I will give you a reward if you do. Come to me when you have built, and I will give you a reward." Seems simple enough. You almost walk away to get started, until--

"HOLD IT!" He yells, very loudly for a Snowman. "You must use teamwork to build a Snowperson. The best Snowpeople are made with friends. Find a friend and build a Snowperson for me. Thank you."

Well, there you have it! You have been tasked with finding someone to build a Snowperson with. And of course, because these Snowfolk are magic, they're going to be quite particular about how they want to be built. They may berate you and act fussy during the process. You must divide the work between you and your acquaintance in order to complete your Snowperson. Get creative with hats, scarves, shapes, face designs - and whatever else you think the Snowperson should have!

Your final result will produce either an immaculate (or terrible) Snowtyke, Snowboy, Snowmam or Snowman who will reward you both with a random piece of winter furniture and an extra surprise!

In Finnish mythology, it is believed that the Northern Lights (Revontulet) are the creation of a fox who runs across the night sky. In Fable, this very same fox is the one responsible for the Northern Lights of their skies - and while he spends a lot of his time away from the realm to decorate the skies of many other places, he returns every Winter for a fantastic show (and incredible party!)

To celebrate his return, Fable's residents gather in Skáld to host a ball and have a big party beneath the lights. And you have been invited! No need to worry about travel - with your magical invitation, you can be poofed there in an instant! In an act of generosity, the Fox of the Northern Lights has temporarily given you a dose of his magic in order for you to join in the fun! While the party is ongoing, you will have a glowing pair of aurora wings which allow flight, a dazzling new outfit, an immunity to the cold, and the ability to create aurora streaks in the sky!

The moment you accept the invitation and arrive in Skáld, the magical effects from the Aurora Fox will activate! Shimmering sparkles will envelope you before you find yourself wearing a brand new outfit and accessories for the evening, and they really are very sparkly! Your floating aurora wings spawn behind you in any colour, and just like that, you're ready for the party! Don't worry about the outfit you were wearing prior to this, it has been transported back to your wardrobe in your cottage. With magic, of course!

The party runs for a few days, and it's a lot bigger than you imagined. Just how many mythological creatures are attending? You and the otherwordly attendees will be staying in a nearby wooden lodge that has been upscaled with magic in order to accommodate its large guests. The lodge has spacious rooms, complimentary meals, and even a heated outdoor pool!

The party itself takes place on a mountain adjacent to the lodge with an outdoor ballroom, Troll DJs playing through the night (with both upbeat and slow music), a bonfire, a food buffet and a bar!

Fancy a drink? There are cocktails and mocktails being served all night by the Troll bartenders! Who knew Trolls were so good at mixing drinks? Cocktails and mocktails are exactly the same in taste, except mocktails don't have any alcohol in them. If your character doesn't like to drink, they can still enjoy the tasty beverage without getting drunk!

Regardless of alcohol content, however, each drink will have a funny effect on the person consuming it.
Pink Pixie will make people feel more flirty and sensual, Minty Manticore will make people hyperactive and chatty, Blue Bunyip will give them a case of the blues by inspiring a little bit of sadness, and Purple Pegasus will make them sentimental and emotional.

[ that sure is true, his passive perception is like, a billion, but he trusts her regardless. she might try to push herself a little too much for his liking, but she wouldn't outright lie to him. especially not about something so important. ]

Well, let me know if anything changes, all right?

[ being away from irminsul entirely, tighnari can't help but think that the chances of her eleazar returning are slim to none, but still. he's protective, and you can never be too careful. anyway, he nods, and smiles, offering her his arm. ]

Food it is, then. Come on.

I will, Master Tighnari. I promise.

[Of course, she hopes she doesn't have to. She's sure Tighari feels the same way.

She takes his arm and gives him an uncertain smile, then starts slowly shuffling toward the food table. Can't trip on your skirts if you never take your feet off the floor, right?]

Have you tried any of the food?

[ ah what a sight the pair of them look, collei shuffling in her poofy skirts, and tighnari.. with his slight limp. :')

gods, but it's good to see her again, though. his heart feels much lighter in her presence. ]

Not yes, no, I was keeping an eye out for familiar faces. There's quite a few of us from Teyvat, here.

[Now that she's not in danger of toppling over, Collei notices that her master's gait isn't quite what it usually is.]

Are you okay? You seem to be limping...

[CONCERN.]

There are! I've met a couple of people from Inazuma already, and Amber's here!

[veardant]

[ ah, leave it to collei to notice his limp immediately.. there's also a very long scar along his right ear. sweats. ]

Amber?

[ THE amber?? ]

Well, I suppose I'll need to track her down and say hello. As for the limp - ah, that's a bit of a story, but suffice it to say, I'm fine, yes. You don't have anything to worry about.

Yes, Amber!

[THE Amber!!

Collei doesn't buy for one second that she has nothing to worry about, especially given that the more she looks at him the more she notices things are amiss. What happened to his ear? That scar wasn't there yesterday when she saw him.

But for now, she holds her tongue. He clearly doesn't want to talk about it, and even she knows that a party isn't the time or place to talk about something so personal. She'll ask him about it again later.]

If you say so.

[She does not, however, bother to sound convinced. Even if she had made the attempt, he'd see through the lie anyway.]

Just a little further to the table...

[ he appreciates her tact.

it's not that tighnari doesn't want to tell her - though, admittedly, he doesn't want to hurt her, doesn't want her to worry - it's just that this is hardly the right time. in the grand scheme of things, his time in reverie wasn't terribly long, but it feels as if it's been a lifetime since he saw home, since he saw her, and tighnari simply wants to take the time to bask in his mentee's glow. he smiles. ]

Doing all right in those skirts?

[ she's still shuffling, after all. but indeed they soon reach the table, which is laden with all sorts of foods, some foreign, some familiar. tighnari leans over a platter of mushrooms and potatoes, breathing deeply. ]

It smells good.

[dendrosprout]

[Have a sheepish smile and a shrug, Master Tighnari.]

Not really. I still feel like I'm going to fall over with every step.

[She's doing her best, buuuuuuut...

Luckily, they make it to the food table without incident. The sheer variety of offerings is a little overwhelming, a mix of novel and familiar. Collei doesn't have enough room in her stomach to sample everything that looks good to her.

The mushroom and potato dish smells nice, and she figures the mushrooms are safe to eat without risking food poisoning and (worse!) a lecture. But it's what's being offered a few dishes down that catches her attention: fried radish balls. Don't mind her as she grabs a plate and puts a few skewers of them on there.]

It does! I want to try everything.

[ she's so cute, he's so proud of her, weh.. ]

Well, I suppose it's very different from what you usually wear.

[ she and tighnari both are usually dressed comfortably enough for their job, after all, he can't imagine she is at all used to skirts like that.. honestly, he doubts she's ever worn anything like it before in her life. tighnari smiles. ]

But you look lovely.

[ and also, food! tighnari piles a good helping of potatoes and mushrooms onto his plate, along with some meat and asparagus, and.. ooh, is that baklava?? :9 ]

[dendrosprout]

[She sure hasn't worn anything like this in her whole life! And given her struggles tonight, she's hoping she never will after this. Surely, there are ways to dress up without all of this POOF.

But then Tighnari compliments her, and she finds herself at a bit of a loss.]

I-I do?

[MASTER TIGHNARI, YOU ARE TOO KIND.

Better to focus on food. Like the mushroom-and-potato stuff, and some kind of carrot side dish, and a few pieces of sticky honey roast because she remembers Amber mentioning how good it is.]

[ COLLEI.. his sweet daughter!! tighnari chuckles. ]

Of course you do. Well, you also look uncomfortable..

[ it's quite clear how much she is not used to such fluffy skirts, but that only makes her waddling all the cuter. anyway, tighnari piles a bit of baklava onto his plate as well, before they're, very carefully, moving toward a table. and he'll change the subject, to be kind. ]

Is that sticky honey roast?

I feel more uncomfortable than pretty. Do you think I can ask the fae for a dress that's easier to move in next time?

[It's not the dressing up she's objecting to, after all. That seems like a good compromise to her.

Thankfully, Tighnari is nice enough not to keep the focus on her for too much longer. She brightens as they start shuffling toward a table.]

Yeah, it is. I've never had it before, but Amber has written about it a few times now and I really want to try it. You can try some too, if you'd like.

Maybe you can. Our hosts seem somewhat amenable.

[ .. for the most part, at least. ]

I'd be happy to try it.

[ together they carefully shuffle on over to a table, tighnari moving slowly beside collei, to make sure she doesn't tip right on over into her plate, but together it's a success, and soon they're sitting comfortably beside one another, digging into their meals. ]

Have you had the chance to look around, yet? I've stumbled across many new species.

[dendrosprout]

Yeah, they've been really nice. Even if I don't know if I'm okay with them bringing us here like this without asking first.

[Well, a part of them anyway. But still!]

I haven't done much looking around yet. I'm sorry. Mostly I've just been getting to know some of the people who live near me.

What kinds of new species have you found?

[She knows him well enough to know that he's probably drawn at least some of them already.]

I can't disagree with that..

[ and this sure isn't his first experience with being snatched away from home by something less than savory. 8) at least this place feels like a breath of fresh air. for now. part of him is still waiting for the other shoe to drop..

setting aside his fork, tighnari pulls his notebook from his pocket and opens it across the table. ]

Cerioporus squamosus, also known as Dryad's Saddle. I found them growing on a tree behind my cottage; they're quite beautiful.

[One day, Collei will learn about the prison. Today is not that day. Instead, she just accepts the statement at face value and happily allows the conversation to shift to plants.

Leaning in a bit to get a better look at the drawing, she gives a diligent nod.]

They kind of look like Rukkha­sha­va mushrooms, but also kind of different? Did you try one to see what would happen?

[ SHE WILL, he will absolutely tell her all about prison, just.. at the appropriate time. not while she's in a big poofy ballgown. ]

I took specimens of course, but I didn't sample it myself until I'd done a little research. There's a library here with plenty of referential texts, so I was able to identify it rather quickly.

[ he smiles. ]

It was delicious.

[Of course he tried one. She's not even sure why she asked, in hindsight. At least it was 'I know this will be good' and not 'Collei please keep an eye out in case there are adverse effects' this time.]

Good! Maybe I'll try some in the future.

Are there any other forageable foods around? Besides our fruit trees, I mean. What fruit did you end up with, anyway?
