// away with the fairies
In your land, there may be stories of the Fae taking people away. Perhaps you haven't heard of the Fae at all, or perhaps you are more familiar with them than others. No matter how well acquainted you are with the Fae, everyone around you has experienced the same fate tonight: Being taken by them. Partially, at least. For they did not want to kidnap anyone from their home and take them away from the life they knew. In a small jar of fairy dust, part of your soul was taken in the night and brought to a magical village by the name of Fable. On arrival, the Fae release you from the jar before waving their magic wands, and materialise this taken little part of you into a brand new you. From here onwards, your new life begins, shared among magical creatures from all walks of life. Here, you will be allowed to grow, thrive and enjoy the bounties provided to you by these mysterious and wonderful creatures. In exchange, they ask for a share of the magical fruit that you grow in your garden, in order for their dragon overseer to reclaim his own magic and find his missing siblings. After a briefing on your new life, you understand things as best as you possibly can. Now, it's time to settle into a brand new cottagecore life.
Welcome to Fable.
// arrival
Now that you are a resident of Fable, you have a brand new cottage, a garden, and a few tools to use! There's not an awful lot in your cottage, though: Just a cardboard box, a lamp, a cassette tape and a single bed. Fortunately, though, it seems that your kitchen is stocked with ingredients. Enough to make a pie, at least! Most of the village shops are currently closed due to the bad weather, so it seems like socialising with your neighbours might be your best shot at finding something to do. Something sparkly catches your attention before you realise it's a message board, advertising an array of tasks for bonus fruit. Did this thing appear out of nowhere just now? That must be the case, since you can swear it wasn't there a second ago. Perhaps the board will urge you to find some fellow people who are in a similar situation as you. The cold weather might inspire you to go fishing in the river canals, have a snowball fight, make warm drinks for people, get active in the kitchen or go sledding!
Or, just ... do whatever you want! This is your magical home now, might as well make the most of it!
snowfolk!
// do you wanna build a snowman?
While wandering through the village, you suddenly hear a voice appear out of nowhere. "Help ..." The voice speaks, rather ominously, which might alarm you. "Turn around ..." It says again, which may send shivers down your spine that aren't related to the cold. "Now, come closer. No, closer. Closer!" Jeez! You know this place is filled with magical creatures, but what on earth is taunting you at the moment? You can't see anything! There's just a Snowman in front of you.
"Hello." Wait, did that Snowman just--? "I am a Snowman." He did. He talked to you.
"I am lonely. Please build me some friends." Well, it's not like you have anything better to do ... "I will give you a reward if you do. Come to me when you have built, and I will give you a reward." Seems simple enough. You almost walk away to get started, until--
"HOLD IT!" He yells, very loudly for a Snowman. "You must use teamwork to build a Snowperson. The best Snowpeople are made with friends. Find a friend and build a Snowperson for me. Thank you."
Your final result will produce either an immaculate (or terrible) Snowtyke, Snowboy, Snowmam or Snowman who will reward you both with a random piece of winter furniture and an extra surprise!
Once you both feel satisfied with your Snowperson,
Please reply to this thread here in order to claim the rewards! Have fun!
the aurora ball
// ballad of the northern lights
In Finnish mythology, it is believed that the Northern Lights (Revontulet) are the creation of a fox who runs across the night sky. In Fable, this very same fox is the one responsible for the Northern Lights of their skies - and while he spends a lot of his time away from the realm to decorate the skies of many other places, he returns every Winter for a fantastic show (and incredible party!)To celebrate his return, Fable's residents gather in Skáld to host a ball and have a big party beneath the lights. And you have been invited! No need to worry about travel - with your magical invitation, you can be poofed there in an instant! In an act of generosity, the Fox of the Northern Lights has temporarily given you a dose of his magic in order for you to join in the fun! While the party is ongoing, you will have a glowing pair of aurora wings which allow flight, a dazzling new outfit, an immunity to the cold, and the ability to create aurora streaks in the sky!
// the aurora ball
The moment you accept the invitation and arrive in Skáld, the magical effects from the Aurora Fox will activate! Shimmering sparkles will envelope you before you find yourself wearing a brand new outfit and accessories for the evening, and they really are very sparkly! Your floating aurora wings spawn behind you in any colour, and just like that, you're ready for the party! Don't worry about the outfit you were wearing prior to this, it has been transported back to your wardrobe in your cottage. With magic, of course! The party runs for a few days, and it's a lot bigger than you imagined. Just how many mythological creatures are attending? You and the otherwordly attendees will be staying in a nearby wooden lodge that has been upscaled with magic in order to accommodate its large guests. The lodge has spacious rooms, complimentary meals, and even a heated outdoor pool!
The party itself takes place on a mountain adjacent to the lodge with an outdoor ballroom, Troll DJs playing through the night (with both upbeat and slow music), a bonfire, a food buffet and a bar!
Regardless of alcohol content, however, each drink will have a funny effect on the person consuming it.
Pink Pixie will make people feel more flirty and sensual, Minty Manticore will make people hyperactive and chatty, Blue Bunyip will give them a case of the blues by inspiring a little bit of sadness, and Purple Pegasus will make them sentimental and emotional.
We're excited to have you here, and hope you enjoy the prompts!

His face clearly shows he's thinking about this all, giving a little nod. He'll keep all what is said to him in mind.]
I wanted to be polite, and I don't mind returning favors in most cases, but I'll keep your advice in mind. [A pause as he'll put into what he's been told.] It's appreciated, your Highness.
[He has met several long living being in Teyvat and across other worlds. No need to correct that he is not a short lived being, but it could be possible compared to how long some beings can live.]
I'd think anyone taking a prince would cause a lot of trouble. Unless you wanted to come here? I won't tell anyone if that's the case.
no subject
If you are not adverse to such dealings, then I would make a proposal. I give you two pieces of Valuable knowledge on the Fae, and in return you must do two favors for me.
[At the questions he preens, smiling and seeming quite pleased about the whole situation.]
I was invited, it would be rude of me not to accept an invitation.
[Honestly he was just elated that someone actually remembered to invite him to something. He hadn't been paying much attention beyond that.]
no subject
What do you mean by valuable? And you would need to be more specific on what sort of favors. [A certain archon would be so proud.] I wouldn't want to make a promise I couldn't keep.
[Invited? Hm. He's read and heard stories of royalty wanting to experience new things outside their circles. He's not going push it as it's not his place.] You sound like you take your duties as a prince seriously. At least with this ball, hopefully you're enjoying yourself.

[He smiles, though he had a naturally unsettling air about him. He could not help but remain somewhat vague, observing the reaction of others was always entertaining, and this was the perfect opportunity to do so.]
If I told you then it would take the amusement out of it, I can assure you that it would not be anything that would risk your wellbeing or that of others.
[The amusement does not leave his features as he continues.]
I am quite entertained. It is rare for me to be invited to such things, so I am observing. It is truly fascinating.
no subject
All right, I'll agree to your offer. [He's hoping he doesn't regret it. It can't be worse than the time some guy wanted to use only these specific bird eggs in Sumeru for fish bait]
Did you not have balls or festivities like this in your domain? [He doesn't want to assume, but he is curious how royalty and the Fae work out. It's something completely new to him and could be useful to understanding this place.]
no subject
Then my first piece of knowledge is this: Never give a Fae your true name. A name is power, and to have a name is to be able to manipulate the one whose name has been taken. However, to lie and be found out would incur the ire of the Fae, a nickname or alias will suffice.
Of course this goes both ways, should you guess the true name of a Fae, you would have power over the Fae. Should you show them mercy, they shall owe you a boon.
[Given how humans and the like tended to throw around names within the first few moments of meeting someone, this seemed to be a very important thing to warn. Fae though he was, he did not want to see the shorter lived races subjected to such duress. And if he were to tell one, then surely he would share this knowledge with his kin.]
None quite like this, at least none that I am invited to. [He heaves a sigh, losing some of his previous enthusiasm.] I am a notoriously strong mage, and had poor control over my magic when I was young. The people of my domain have not soon forgotten being at the mercy of the emotions of a fickle child. I am something to be feared by in the eyes of Fae and humans alike-
Which brings me to my first request. I would have you be my friend.
no subject
Names are that powerful, huh... [He knows they have meaning, especially with some recent events. Still, it seems to be some sort of magic or spell tied with that.]
Huh? [He's not expecting that mini soliloquy to end with that question. He doesn't have any objections, and it's one of the favors, so...]
All right, I'll be your friend. I guess as friends, we can exchange names first. [He puts hand on chest.] I'm Aether but some people call be Traveler. I know since you're a Fae, you can't give me your true name, so what should I call you, Sire?
no subject
[He couldn’t be certain, it wasn’t magic he used himself really. But taking parts of souls against their will certainly did ring of Fae “ownership”.]
You may address me as Malleus, I cannot recall my true name, and my titles mean very little here. I am a guest, just as you are.
[And on that note, he would give a bit of information that probably would have been valuable before he proposed the bargain, but where would the fun in that have been?]
Now that we are friends, I shall give you the next piece of knowledge: The Fae cannot lie- at least not directly. Be mindful of our wording, and do not assume anything to be taken for granted.
no subject
If that's what you want, Malleus. [He gives a little nod. This isn't the first time he's been told by those in high standings and position to be treated 'normally' or like a regular person.]
I hope as friends, I won't need to second guess or doubt what you're telling me, as I trust all my friends. [He's a firm believer in trusting his friends, and so far Malleus has yet to show him a strong reason to distrust him.] But I'll keep it in mind with the other Fae.
no subject
[He smiled at the other's statement. Trust was a rare but appreciated thing, and as a friend he is trusted! It was a good feeling, but not something he wished to betray. ]
You have little to fear from me, Aether. Between my station, wealth, and raw power, I can see to my needs without resorting to such deceptions. However there is wisdom in being wary, even of me, for regardless of my intent I am still dangerous.
[He sighs and his previous pleased demeanor seems to deflate a bit. It was among his many struggles, but perhaps if he learned to get over that hurdle he would be feared less.]
There are times I do not think to mention things that humans regard as important. It is not a matter of malice. I may be better than many of my kin, but I still struggle to understand your kind in many ways.
So for my second request, I ask that you guide me on how to behave as a "friend".
no subject
I'm not fearful of you, and I trust you and believe everything you've told me. [It does make sense in this world in which he is still trying to understand.] You can say I'm dangerous too, but I use my power and strength to protect people.
[He's heard this sort of perspective before. Humans being such a mysterious thing has a habit of crossing over several worlds it seems.]
I can try to explain things, but sometimes the answer, even if true, might not make the most sense, even to other humans.
[The second request doesn't come as much as a surprise as it compliments his first request. Aether doesn't mind, and like Malleus promised him, it's nor harming anyone and is endearing and cute in its own way.]
Well, talking to each other and knowing each other is something we already did. Helping each other out, we're doing that... so I just getting to know each other and spend time together is something we can continue doing.
