In your land, there may be stories of the Fae taking people away. Perhaps you haven't heard of the Fae at all, or perhaps you are more familiar with them than others. No matter how well acquainted you are with the Fae, everyone around you has experienced the same fate tonight: Being taken by them. Partially, at least. For they did not want to kidnap anyone from their home and take them away from the life they knew. In a small jar of fairy dust, part of your soul was taken in the night and brought to a magical village by the name of Fable.

On arrival, the Fae release you from the jar before waving their magic wands, and materialise this taken little part of you into a brand new you. From here onwards, your new life begins, shared among magical creatures from all walks of life. Here, you will be allowed to grow, thrive and enjoy the bounties provided to you by these mysterious and wonderful creatures. In exchange, they ask for a share of the magical fruit that you grow in your garden, in order for their dragon overseer to reclaim his own magic and find his missing siblings. After a briefing on your new life, you understand things as best as you possibly can. Now, it's time to settle into a brand new cottagecore life.

Welcome to Fable.

Now that you are a resident of Fable, you have a brand new cottage, a garden, and a few tools to use! There's not an awful lot in your cottage, though: Just a cardboard box, a lamp, a cassette tape and a single bed. Fortunately, though, it seems that your kitchen is stocked with ingredients. Enough to make a pie, at least! Most of the village shops are currently closed due to the bad weather, so it seems like socialising with your neighbours might be your best shot at finding something to do.

Something sparkly catches your attention before you realise it's a message board, advertising an array of tasks for bonus fruit. Did this thing appear out of nowhere just now? That must be the case, since you can swear it wasn't there a second ago. Perhaps the board will urge you to find some fellow people who are in a similar situation as you. The cold weather might inspire you to go fishing in the river canals, have a snowball fight, make warm drinks for people, get active in the kitchen or go sledding!

Or, just ... do whatever you want! This is your magical home now, might as well make the most of it!

While wandering through the village, you suddenly hear a voice appear out of nowhere. "Help ..." The voice speaks, rather ominously, which might alarm you. "Turn around ..." It says again, which may send shivers down your spine that aren't related to the cold. "Now, come closer. No, closer. Closer!" Jeez! You know this place is filled with magical creatures, but what on earth is taunting you at the moment? You can't see anything! There's just a Snowman in front of you.

"Hello." Wait, did that Snowman just--? "I am a Snowman." He did. He talked to you.

"I am lonely. Please build me some friends." Well, it's not like you have anything better to do ... "I will give you a reward if you do. Come to me when you have built, and I will give you a reward." Seems simple enough. You almost walk away to get started, until--

"HOLD IT!" He yells, very loudly for a Snowman. "You must use teamwork to build a Snowperson. The best Snowpeople are made with friends. Find a friend and build a Snowperson for me. Thank you."

Well, there you have it! You have been tasked with finding someone to build a Snowperson with. And of course, because these Snowfolk are magic, they're going to be quite particular about how they want to be built. They may berate you and act fussy during the process. You must divide the work between you and your acquaintance in order to complete your Snowperson. Get creative with hats, scarves, shapes, face designs - and whatever else you think the Snowperson should have!

Your final result will produce either an immaculate (or terrible) Snowtyke, Snowboy, Snowmam or Snowman who will reward you both with a random piece of winter furniture and an extra surprise!

In Finnish mythology, it is believed that the Northern Lights (Revontulet) are the creation of a fox who runs across the night sky. In Fable, this very same fox is the one responsible for the Northern Lights of their skies - and while he spends a lot of his time away from the realm to decorate the skies of many other places, he returns every Winter for a fantastic show (and incredible party!)

To celebrate his return, Fable's residents gather in Skáld to host a ball and have a big party beneath the lights. And you have been invited! No need to worry about travel - with your magical invitation, you can be poofed there in an instant! In an act of generosity, the Fox of the Northern Lights has temporarily given you a dose of his magic in order for you to join in the fun! While the party is ongoing, you will have a glowing pair of aurora wings which allow flight, a dazzling new outfit, an immunity to the cold, and the ability to create aurora streaks in the sky!

The moment you accept the invitation and arrive in Skáld, the magical effects from the Aurora Fox will activate! Shimmering sparkles will envelope you before you find yourself wearing a brand new outfit and accessories for the evening, and they really are very sparkly! Your floating aurora wings spawn behind you in any colour, and just like that, you're ready for the party! Don't worry about the outfit you were wearing prior to this, it has been transported back to your wardrobe in your cottage. With magic, of course!

The party runs for a few days, and it's a lot bigger than you imagined. Just how many mythological creatures are attending? You and the otherwordly attendees will be staying in a nearby wooden lodge that has been upscaled with magic in order to accommodate its large guests. The lodge has spacious rooms, complimentary meals, and even a heated outdoor pool!

The party itself takes place on a mountain adjacent to the lodge with an outdoor ballroom, Troll DJs playing through the night (with both upbeat and slow music), a bonfire, a food buffet and a bar!

Fancy a drink? There are cocktails and mocktails being served all night by the Troll bartenders! Who knew Trolls were so good at mixing drinks? Cocktails and mocktails are exactly the same in taste, except mocktails don't have any alcohol in them. If your character doesn't like to drink, they can still enjoy the tasty beverage without getting drunk!

Regardless of alcohol content, however, each drink will have a funny effect on the person consuming it.
Pink Pixie will make people feel more flirty and sensual, Minty Manticore will make people hyperactive and chatty, Blue Bunyip will give them a case of the blues by inspiring a little bit of sadness, and Purple Pegasus will make them sentimental and emotional.

No, I guess it wouldn't, given the humid conditions of the rainforest there, and the desert...wait, did you say Sumeru?

[He turns to his long-eared companion, surprised.]

I guess that means we're both from Teyvat! I'm from Inazuma myself.

[What a relief to know he's not the only one.]

[ at that, tighnari's ears perk a little, though not too high, lest they knock the hat right off of his head. ]

Oh, Inazuma - I've always wanted to travel there, to see the Chinju Forest for myself.

[ among other things. there's a plethora of flora and fauna to be studied all across inazuma's islands. tighnari's tail sways happily, and he smiles. ]

It's nice to meet someone else from home.

Agreed, haha. It would be a little lonely if there was no one else here from home.

[He says that, as now he gets to be homesick for both Inazuma and Mondstadt now.]

Though, I have to ask, why'd you want to go to Chinju Forest specifically? Most people want to see Inazuma City, but that's the first time someone's wanted to see the forest. ...You wouldn't happen to want to spot a tanuki too, would you?

[He sounds a little excited about that.]

[ homesickness is real.. especially considering tighnari came from a different place before arriving here. he misses sumeru deeply, and his friends and family even more. ]

A tanuki? No, but I certainly wouldn't mind meeting one.

[ as a biologist, he has a vested interest in all life, even if plants and mushrooms are his favorites. ]

I'd like to study the bioluminescent flora and fungi. It must all be incredibly beautiful.

It is. I walk through Chinju Forest practically every day, but I never really get tired of how pretty it looks even in the perpetual darkness.

[Even if it can get a little spooky, but he's used to it now.]

I'm guessing based off of that that you're from the Akademiya. We haven't had a scholar come to Inazuma to study there in quite some time, and of course the ones already in the country got stuck there until recently. I'd say now's the perfect time to go, except...

What I wouldn't give to see it just once! But it's on my list of things to accomplish.

[ bucket list: touch every plant in teyvat. and in this world, too, he'd love to see everything that fable has to offer. you can take the botanist out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the botanist.. ]

But yes, you guess correctly, though I don't work with the Akademiya anymore, since graduation. [ ahem. ] Nevertheless.. yeah, I'll have to shelve that endeavor for a little while.

On the bright side, you've got a whole new world to make discoveries in.

[And to be honest, that goes for everyone, scholar or not.]

I'm actually a little excited about these fruit trees we all get to grow. I never knew having basic social skills would net you more fruit. That kinda goes against everything I know about growing, well, anything really. I'm more used to talking to the plant to make it grow than talking to people.

You're right about that, too.

[ and he's quite excited about that, despite the fact that.. he's already come from another world before this, one far less welcoming than this one, but he's not about to talk about that just yet. ]

Oh, are you interested in horticulture?

[ ears UP. ]

You could say I dabble a little bit.

[He sure does garden nari you bet he's a little interested]

Having a nice, well-maintained garden does wonders for the mind and the spirit. I definitely wouldn't say I'm as versed in horticulture as you probably are, but I enjoy it as part of my duties and as a sort of hobby, too.

Oh, that's excellent to hear.

[ tighnari is absolutely perked up now, his mouth curving into a smile, his tail swaying happily. ]

I'd be happy to offer any help or advice you need, should you find yourself in a tight spot, or if you'd simply enjoy chatting about it. I'm a botanist, so you can imagine that I'm rather interested in the topic. Oh! By the way, if you're interested in meeting tanuki.. there are a few here, too.

[His eyes shine a little when Tighnari mentions a tanuki actually being in this new world with them.]

Tanuki, here? Hmmm...I guess I shouldn't be all that surprised...

[Thoma's gaze turns to look back towards all their little cottages, smiling. He's got an idea.]

Actually, now that I think about all of that...as a botanist, I'm sure you know about far more species of flowers and other shrubs than I have, and when spring rolls around, I'm going to start working on making a little garden in front of my new home here. Maybe you could help me make one that our tanuki friends would like to come visit.

[BECAUSE WHAT BETTER WAY TO SEE ONE SHAPESHIFT THAN TO HAVE A GARDEN FULL OF THEM]

Yes, apparently they're responsible for building our homes.

I'd be more than happy to help. It's been awhile since I worked on a personal garden, but I'd love to. Though I'm not sure what tanuki are particular to, if they're particular to anything at all.

Truthfully, I think they really like to play and pull pranks. So I suppose a garden that lets them do that would be a great way to lure them there to contemplate making it their home.

[He's beginning to think this is going to be a bigger project than he first intended.]

That is, if the tanuki here are like the ones in Inazuma. I haven't seen one here yet, so I couldn't say.

And I can't say I'm familiar with Inazuma's tanuki, either..

[ he's read about them, sure, but he's never seen one with his own eyes, to know if they're similar to the ones here. illustrations are often a little vague. tighnari hums thoughtfully, lifting a hand to his chin. ]

If they like to play, vines to swing on might be welcome, and hardier, tall plants to run through, and play hide and seek. Like sunflowers, or cornstalks. I wonder if we could grow a bouncing mushroom, here..

All of those sound great, we might even get more than just tanuki with all those ideas.

[He could see kids really have a good time in a garden like that, and it sounds like something tanuki definitely would like. Thoma's never been to Sumeru, so this whole mushroom thing sounds interesting...]

A bouncing mushroom? Do they look like little bouncing balls?

[Forgive him, Tigharni...]

[ it's fine thoma, he forgives you, given you're a fellow horticulturist. he does chuckle, however. ]

No, no, they look like mushrooms, large and flat. Their texture is incredibly strong and springy, so jumping on them can launch you up into the air.

[ like a trampoline! except he doesn't know trampolines, probably, so he can't make that comparison. ]

Though.. hmm, that might be a little dangerous, without safety nets. Perhaps I could cultivate a smaller specimen that won't bounce so high..

[Okay but that sounds fun, he definitely wants to see those!]

Interesting! Now I definitely have to see them. Maybe if we grow one, we can test out how it fares here. We could borrow the Traveler's wind glider if he's got it with him...

[He holds a hand up to his chin, continuing to think.]

...and after that, we could determine whether or not we'll need a smaller one. But, to be honest, I don't really know how to create new kinds of plants. I just know how to plant them and care for them, so I wouldn't be able to help you out much there at all. Sorry...

It's not terribly difficult, mostly just tedious, but I can grow plants and fungi quickly with my dendro abilities, so it shouldn't take too long, depending on how lucky we get.

[ he's really thinking this through, apparently!! a plant playground sounds really nice and cute, okay. he's practically mapping the entire thing out in his mind already. ]

But this all sounds like an excellent idea. I'm happy to help.

That's great! Guess we've got a project on our hands.

[He hadn't expected this, but it would be really fun to make this happen. And with Tighnari's help, he's sure it'll turn out great.]

But I think we're going to need more space than just my front yard. In fact, I think making this would be better in a much larger space, somewhere that everyone could come to enjoy it. It might be worthwhile to petition for a communal space here in the village for it.

[Okay, he's all in now.]

It'll give us time to find a spot, fill out the necessary paperwork to make it all official before spring hits, figure out a layout that works well for what we want to grow there...

[ yeah tighnari hadn't expected that their light conversation would lead to this either, yet here they are..! ]

So perhaps.. something like a park?

[ unusual for tighnari, when the whole wide rainforest is his park, but fable is different, more like a large town, certainly bigger than his gandharva ville. but he's helped kaveh with designs before, this should be no different - in fact, like as not they could get him involved. ]

I have an architect friend here who might love to help with its design.

Really?

[That makes it even better and easier. Thoma seems to brighten at the knowledge that there's an architect here that could help with the ordeal.]

What's his name? I'd love to meet him, maybe we can all sit down and talk about it sometime and see what we can make of it. Though, I don't think we can pay him...hm. I didn't think about that.
