In your land, there may be stories of the Fae taking people away. Perhaps you haven't heard of the Fae at all, or perhaps you are more familiar with them than others. No matter how well acquainted you are with the Fae, everyone around you has experienced the same fate tonight: Being taken by them. Partially, at least. For they did not want to kidnap anyone from their home and take them away from the life they knew. In a small jar of fairy dust, part of your soul was taken in the night and brought to a magical village by the name of Fable.

On arrival, the Fae release you from the jar before waving their magic wands, and materialise this taken little part of you into a brand new you. From here onwards, your new life begins, shared among magical creatures from all walks of life. Here, you will be allowed to grow, thrive and enjoy the bounties provided to you by these mysterious and wonderful creatures. In exchange, they ask for a share of the magical fruit that you grow in your garden, in order for their dragon overseer to reclaim his own magic and find his missing siblings. After a briefing on your new life, you understand things as best as you possibly can. Now, it's time to settle into a brand new cottagecore life.

Now that you are a resident of Fable, you have a brand new cottage, a garden, and a few tools to use! There's not an awful lot in your cottage, though: Just a cardboard box, a lamp, a cassette tape and a single bed. Fortunately, though, it seems that your kitchen is stocked with ingredients. Enough to make a pie, at least! Most of the village shops are currently closed due to the bad weather, so it seems like socialising with your neighbours might be your best shot at finding something to do.

Something sparkly catches your attention before you realise it's a message board, advertising an array of tasks for bonus fruit. Did this thing appear out of nowhere just now? That must be the case, since you can swear it wasn't there a second ago. Perhaps the board will urge you to find some fellow people who are in a similar situation as you. The cold weather might inspire you to go fishing in the river canals, have a snowball fight, make warm drinks for people, get active in the kitchen or go sledding!

Or, just ... do whatever you want! This is your magical home now, might as well make the most of it!

While wandering through the village, you suddenly hear a voice appear out of nowhere. "Help ..." The voice speaks, rather ominously, which might alarm you. "Turn around ..." It says again, which may send shivers down your spine that aren't related to the cold. "Now, come closer. No, closer. Closer!" Jeez! You know this place is filled with magical creatures, but what on earth is taunting you at the moment? You can't see anything! There's just a Snowman in front of you.

"Hello." Wait, did that Snowman just--? "I am a Snowman." He did. He talked to you.

"I am lonely. Please build me some friends." Well, it's not like you have anything better to do ... "I will give you a reward if you do. Come to me when you have built, and I will give you a reward." Seems simple enough. You almost walk away to get started, until--

"HOLD IT!" He yells, very loudly for a Snowman. "You must use teamwork to build a Snowperson. The best Snowpeople are made with friends. Find a friend and build a Snowperson for me. Thank you."

Well, there you have it! You have been tasked with finding someone to build a Snowperson with. And of course, because these Snowfolk are magic, they're going to be quite particular about how they want to be built. They may berate you and act fussy during the process. You must divide the work between you and your acquaintance in order to complete your Snowperson. Get creative with hats, scarves, shapes, face designs - and whatever else you think the Snowperson should have!

Your final result will produce either an immaculate (or terrible) Snowtyke, Snowboy, Snowmam or Snowman who will reward you both with a random piece of winter furniture and an extra surprise!

In Finnish mythology, it is believed that the Northern Lights (Revontulet) are the creation of a fox who runs across the night sky. In Fable, this very same fox is the one responsible for the Northern Lights of their skies - and while he spends a lot of his time away from the realm to decorate the skies of many other places, he returns every Winter for a fantastic show (and incredible party!)

To celebrate his return, Fable's residents gather in Skáld to host a ball and have a big party beneath the lights. And you have been invited! No need to worry about travel - with your magical invitation, you can be poofed there in an instant! In an act of generosity, the Fox of the Northern Lights has temporarily given you a dose of his magic in order for you to join in the fun! While the party is ongoing, you will have a glowing pair of aurora wings which allow flight, a dazzling new outfit, an immunity to the cold, and the ability to create aurora streaks in the sky!

The moment you accept the invitation and arrive in Skáld, the magical effects from the Aurora Fox will activate! Shimmering sparkles will envelope you before you find yourself wearing a brand new outfit and accessories for the evening, and they really are very sparkly! Your floating aurora wings spawn behind you in any colour, and just like that, you're ready for the party! Don't worry about the outfit you were wearing prior to this, it has been transported back to your wardrobe in your cottage. With magic, of course!

The party runs for a few days, and it's a lot bigger than you imagined. Just how many mythological creatures are attending? You and the otherwordly attendees will be staying in a nearby wooden lodge that has been upscaled with magic in order to accommodate its large guests. The lodge has spacious rooms, complimentary meals, and even a heated outdoor pool!

The party itself takes place on a mountain adjacent to the lodge with an outdoor ballroom, Troll DJs playing through the night (with both upbeat and slow music), a bonfire, a food buffet and a bar!

Fancy a drink? There are cocktails and mocktails being served all night by the Troll bartenders! Who knew Trolls were so good at mixing drinks? Cocktails and mocktails are exactly the same in taste, except mocktails don't have any alcohol in them. If your character doesn't like to drink, they can still enjoy the tasty beverage without getting drunk!

Regardless of alcohol content, however, each drink will have a funny effect on the person consuming it.
Pink Pixie will make people feel more flirty and sensual, Minty Manticore will make people hyperactive and chatty, Blue Bunyip will give them a case of the blues by inspiring a little bit of sadness, and Purple Pegasus will make them sentimental and emotional.

Arrival [message board: clear the snow]

[ arriving in such a quiet place made sandalphon immediately wonder if there was some kind of hidden secrets lying beneath the surface. but no, it was a simple desire: grow fruits and give them in order to help their dragon lord. simple. easy. so why did it feel… overwhelming? almost impossible to handle. sandalphon had to manage it somehow, he knew that. at least this place had the kindness to allow him to keep his wings. made it easier to do what was required to do on the message board. clear yet snow off someone’s cottage? easy work when he had fire at his disposal.

but then the angel noticed the cottage was made out of wood. not a good idea. so there he stood, eyes on the cottage and trying to think of a way to brush it off without causing too much commotion. the only thing out of place is that this angel doesn’t feel the cold— why else would he only be in regular armor? ]

There has to be something I can do….

do you wanna build a snowman?

No no you gotta do it like that!

Will you shut up?!

[ it’s difficult enough to not know how to build a snowman, but to build one with another, just to be dealt the blow of humiliation?! this snowman…thing could have at least helped him figure out how? not to mention he was already hearing something affecting his ability to actually try..!

someone help him before he screams in frustration. he can get pretty loud. ]

aurora ball

[ the new outfit is welcome, but he doesn’t really want to be there. but he was magic-ed here and now he doesn’t exactly have a choice. he explores the party area via air first— opting to use his physical wings instead of the aurora wings given to him. why? because why isn’t anything but his own?

he eventually lands at the outer edge of the outdoor ballroom, back facing the ballroom. the angel folds in his wings in before letting them fade into light. he turns around and looks just to make sure there’s no one watching afterwards… but his eyes land on another set.

great. ]

[ This might turn ugly, so Nahida steps in to mediate! She's heard the whole Snowman speech before and she's been looking for someone to build a snowperson with. ]

We'll do it!

[ It looks like Sandalphon is getting the extended version of the speech as the Snowman starts wailing.

"Curses of all the places I could have fallen, why did it have to be this town? WHYYYYYY?!"

That is more than enough to prompt her to murmur to Sandalphon: ]

Let's do this quick. This Snowman is so dramatic.

[ the angel blinks when the little human (harvin????) steps in and offers to be his partner in building the snowman. well. that’s certainly a burden off his shoulders. he hears her comment and finds himself nodding. dramatic was an understatement. but even so he returns the whisper. ]

Then I’m right in assuming you know how to build these snowmen.

[ if she does then bless her. ]

[ She can be your harvin, or your lalafell!! ]

I wouldn't be offering to help if I didn't. However, I have to admit that I'm not the most experienced snowmanmaker.

[ That's not even a word, but it's probably okay. ]

Should we start right away?

[ Nahida suggests this mostly because she doesn't want the snowman to pester them anymore. ]

[ she’s got a point there. as long as the snowman shuts up, sandalphon will give anything. anyways. ]

Something is better than nothing. [ a shrug. ] Yes, let’s. I trust you to lead the way.

I shall.

[ First things first, however—it's going to be for the best for all involved parties if they walk away from the Snowman and start working on his friend from a distance safe from his yelling and criticism.

She scoops some snow from the ground to form a snowball first before looking up at Sandalphon: ]

May I ask for your name? I'm Nahida and I'm looking forward to building a Snowperson with you.

[ After introducing herself, she bows and offers him a somewhat warm yet sheepish smile. ]

[ he starts to do the same, even if his movements are unsure. ]

Sandalphon. A pleasure.

[ aaaaahhh the bow. well. uh. hm. sandalphon follows the same gesture, but his is definitely stilted. ]

[ It only makes her smile before she focuses on the snowball again. ]

Do you come from a warm place? If you don't mind me asking, of course.

[ Nahida is curious about her new acquaintance, but she doesn't want to come off as too nosy either. ]

... For the most part. Depended on where I was, really.

[ the snow actually made him feel nostalgic, in a way, but there was no need for him to start suddenly spilling the beans about his past to her. it was better to be vague. ]

How about you? Was it warm where you lived?

You're best off getting a broom or the like. Only a discount primarch like you would default to using the elements.

[ lucilius may be smirking, but he's clearly trembling from the cold. leave it to him to refuse the clothing he was given like a stubborn toddler. ]

[ the coldest glare sandalphon could possibly muster was given as he turned around to face the astral. ]

Great. You're here. [ the delight was so evident. ] If you think a broom would help clear all that snow, why don't you do it? It looks like you need the exercise. [ that pale skin doesn't cure itself!!! ]

Me? Oh no, I'm far too cold. Dreadfully cold, oh dear.

[ his tone is sarcastic and haughty, but it's... not quite a lie. he's somehow not dying of frostbite, but he's still entirely shirtless. ]

But you're immune to cold, right?

Says the one who's damn near become a popsicle.

[ he hasn't stopped glaring, and he won't anytime soon. ]

It's possible I could throw you. That could work.

[If Irene was a slightly different person this would be the point in which she'd make a snowball and chuck it at Sandalphon's head. She is not that person. Instead, she draws herself up, and with the full authority of her Rie Kugimiya voice (mileage varies as to how much authority there is), she folds her arms and stares at Sandalphon.]

Why are you shouting?

[ sandalphon turns his head rather quickly at the sound of that voice. huh. he swore that was vyrn's voice for a second, but instead he finds some strange girl. hm. that was weird. ]

Don't you hear the voice coming from the snowman? He wants me to build him friends but with the caveat of having someone else to assist. It'd be easier to do it myself.

[ the glare sandalphon gives the snowman is only answered by the yelling of "it's part of the rules, silly?!"]

That still doesn't explain why you're yelling. The way I see it: the snowman might be... [an asshole] ...rude, but the snowman can't move. You can.

[And thus, we get to the point.]

You could always walk away if it bothers you that much. [You got choices, buddy, this could be the go take a nap prompt, this could be the eat a delicious pie prompt.] But I suppose it can't be helped. If you want to help the snowman that much, I'll help.

[ damn it, she had a point. he could just move, but something in him just… doesn’t. why is that, he wonders. ]

Thank you for offering. [ at least there was that. ] Let’s get this over with.

[Probably because Fable seems to follow normal seasonal patterns with a winter, a spring, a summer, and a fall. Point being, there's only a limited number of months with snow. The snowman is likely only hours, days, maybe a few weeks old.

The snowman counts as a child and has Sandy whipped. He has no chance.

But that's besides the point.]

Of course. The sooner the snowman has a friend, the sooner everyone will be happy.

[Time to strugglebuild a snowman.] You don't look it, but you're a pretty nice guy, aren't you?

I-I am not. [ he totally is.

he starts joining her in strugglebuilding the snowman. ] As long as this gets done, the easier our lives will be.

[Wow. Wow, now that gets her attention as she just stares at Sandalphon for a moment because...wow, that sure was a telling response. Here she was, prepared to make small talk along the lines of, "Gosh sure these snowmen are demanding." "Yeah they sure do yell a lot." "Where do you think they come from?" "I don't know." Plain, beige-colored neutral conversation.

And then that. And then that incredibly telling response.

...anyway, back to strugglebuilding.]

You're right. [Don't worry about the stare. It's cool.] Do you think our snowman will come to life just like the other snowmen have? Or do you think it'll remain a normal snowman?

[ oh he does notice the stare. totally. and he hates it. why are people like this. ]

They most likely will, given how animated the first one was.

[ he keeps working, even if he still has little idea. he’s going to bet on irene’s knowledge of snowmen building to keep him afloat. ]

[You know what, a kind softie like Sandalphon over there probably knows how to build a snowman, as he undoubtedly made at least one with some kids. She's going to bet on that. He seems like the sort of guy that gets bullied on the regular by some neighborhood kids.]

Mm. [That's an agreeing mm, by the way.] Now I'm wondering if what we're doing is the right thing to do. If one snowman starts yelling for two-

["HEY"

She's going to ignore that snowman.]

-would the snowmen be happy with each other, or would the two of them start yelling for two more?

[ now that comment makes sandalphon think. She’s got a point, and quite frankly, if he’s going to be made to make more and more snowmen until they’re happy, he’s gotta be paid handsomely. which quite frankly, these snowmen may not do in the first place. ]

If they ask for two more, we can ignore them. They can’t do anything to hurt us, really.

[Now she has to consider it, deciding on,]

You're right. It would be terrible if we let ourselves get bossed around by snowmen.

[Wait. That wasn't meant to be shots fired, but wasn't that shots fired technically...should she apologize...

Actually no, Irene's going to start rolling balls of snow and pretend like nothing happened.]
