In your land, there may be stories of the Fae taking people away. Perhaps you haven't heard of the Fae at all, or perhaps you are more familiar with them than others. No matter how well acquainted you are with the Fae, everyone around you has experienced the same fate tonight: Being taken by them. Partially, at least. For they did not want to kidnap anyone from their home and take them away from the life they knew. In a small jar of fairy dust, part of your soul was taken in the night and brought to a magical village by the name of Fable.

On arrival, the Fae release you from the jar before waving their magic wands, and materialise this taken little part of you into a brand new you. From here onwards, your new life begins, shared among all sorts of magical creatures. Here, you will be allowed to grow, thrive and enjoy the bounties provided to you by these mysterious and wonderful creatures. In exchange, they ask for a share of the magical fruit that you grow in your garden, donated to their dragon overseer in exchange for rewards. After a briefing on your new life, you understand things as best as you possibly can. Now, it's time to settle into a brand new cottagecore life.

Now that you are a resident of Fable, you have a brand new cottage, a garden, and a few tools to use! There's not an awful lot in your cottage, though: Just a cardboard box, a lamp, a cassette tape and a single bed. Fear not, though! By participating in friendly tasks, your cottage will look great in no time.

Something sparkly catches your attention before you realise it's a message board, advertising an array of tasks for bonus fruit. Did this thing appear out of nowhere just now? That must be the case, since you can swear it wasn't there a second ago. The board may inspire you to go out there and mingle. It seems that the monthly tasks are geared towards friendliness to welcome this new season!

At long last, the snow covering Fable has finally melted! While Spring hasn't made its full appearance yet, there are definitely tell-tale signs of its approach thanks to the greener grass and the days feeling longer. Some of the anthropomorphic animals who live in the neighbouring region of Limerick - such as rabbits, birds, sheep, fawns, mice and squirrels - have gathered in Fable to introduce an incredibly sweet welcome to the warmer weather.

The woodland animals, who work together like you would imagine them doing in a Disney movie, have arranged a picnic! They've got plenty of baskets, cups, blankets, plates and cutlery to give out - not to mention food created by both themselves and their Faerie friends! (They wash their paws, promise.) Just be careful on which you choose to eat, because consuming fairy dust can do strange things to Fable residents.

There's an incredible flow of magic in the air that fills you with the urge to get out there and enjoy the sun with some company. It's a beautiful day for a picnic! Fable has an assortment of hills and fields to lay down a blanket and relax on. Some of the more quiet spots can found be down by the river or under the willow trees. Inside of the basket gifted to you by the animals, you will find plates, cups, cutlery and freshly picked flowers!

There's plenty of food to go around for all dietary requirements! The animals and fairies have certainly gone all-out - so there's no need to feel guilty for stacking your plate high. The food prepared by the animals cause zero effects, but the food prepared by the Fae is cooked with magic and fairy dust which might cause some interesting changes to happen! Choose wisely!

Across Fable while the weather is beautiful and bright, there are assorted outdoor activities available to participate in, especially while the picnics are on!

Near the areas where people are dining and socialising, there are swinging seats that fit two people, an assortment of musical instruments laid out for people to play, outdoor grills and ovens in case anyone wants to cook or bake some goodies for their picnics, and arts and crafts supplies!

For participating in any of these tasks, you will receive flowers or shrubs for your garden and pieces of outdoor furniture for your cottage! Feel free to leave a comment here to redeem these once you've written 5 tags in your thread! Since our TDMs are considered game canon, if you choose to app, these rewards will cross over with you when you join the game! Woohoo!

If you choose to partake in some Faerie food, you may find yourself feeling quite interesting!

The flower cupcakes look rather nice, don't they? The icing is in the shape of a flower! These sweet treats will make you feel extremely brave and sociable! You can't recall ever wanting to talk and mingle so much!

The flower punch is being served in several flavours, topped off with flowers floating in your drink for decoration. With every sip you take, no matter the flavour, you will want to share happy thoughts and feelings! Be warned, though: If you drink too many glasses, you'll feel a lot of sad feelings come to surface - ones you that might be trying to fend off or forget about. Comfort from another person is the remedy, however!

A slice of fruit pie still carries that warm feeling over from Winter! With all sorts of fruit flavours to try, there are pie slices for all tastes. Eating one will inspire you to compliment someone! That warmth from within is flowing right out, so much that you can't resist saying all these nice words.

A slice of cake will overwhelm you with the incredible taste of perfectly balanced vanilla extract and lemon zest! It will also make you incredibly affectionate. Depending on how big the slice is that you eat, it might make you feel very affectionate indeed. (Winky emoji.)

The sunny weather looks so nice and refreshing that you may feel inclined to go out of your cottage and visit your garden. Except ... your garden is looking pretty barren at the moment, isn't it? You have your fruit trees, plenty of soil plots and fresh green grass, but no flowers.

While contemplating how empty your cottage garden is, you notice something appear beside you.

"Mrrrrrrrp?"

Oh. It's a cat. Actually, wait, it's ... several cats?! Where are they all coming from!? All of them have fairy wings in an assortment of different colours, and it looks as though they're very interested in you for some reason. The cats nuzzle your legs and around your ankles, which inadvertently causes the fairy dust in their fur to rub off on you. The shimmering sparkles coming off the kittens may not give you a second thought, until you move one of your feet to notice that there are flowers growing behind you when you walk!

"Mew! Can you make the flowers grow faster, please?" Did that cat just talk?! Actually, if you've been here for a while, this won't be a surprise at all. These purring kitties are all rubbing by your feet still.

"That Winter lasted for too long ... your gardens are so empty! Please grow some flowers for us to play in ... pretty pleeeeeeease?"

Against your better judgement, you decide to listen to the kitties. They are pretty cute and convincing, after all. But whether you know it or not, there are special qualities to these flowers...!

After a briefing from the Flittens, you understand that all of Fable's cat fairy population have been visiting the Fable residents to request big flowering gardens to play in. It's a win/win situation, though - since your garden will no longer be barren and empty!

The flower that grows is one that matches you entirely! Whether it's the colour of the flower, your personality or the flower's meaning - the flower that grows is an essence of who you are.

The Flittens have a very important requirement for you once you have grown flowers in your own garden: They want you to visit your neighbours and grow flowers in their gardens too! According to the Flittens, it's "boring" to play around in the same type of flower. They want big, colourful gardens to frolic and play in!

Flowers grow when you walk around barefoot on grass, or handle soil with your hands. When you feel happy, they will sprout and grow all around you! Maybe even in your hair if you're feeling extra happy.

The second important thing to note about these flowers is that their pollen has magical properties! When you have a neighbour visit and they grow their flowers in your garden, inhaling the pollen of these flowers will heighten your interest in them! Their flowers you grow smell so sweet - the aroma is very inviting! You're curious to learn more about where they're from, who they are, and you may even feel inclined to invite them to dinner or offer them tea from your cottage. The longer you stay in their presence, the stronger the pollen's effect! Just how much are you going to learn about this person?

After 24 hours, the flower growing magic will be over, but you'll wake up the next day with a bright beautiful garden and hopefully a new friend or two...!?

( While Claude has always liked the outdoors, he's never planted a garden before and the closest he'd gotten to it was the greenhouse at Garreg Mach. This is way different, though, because when they nuzzle up against him, there's a whole carpet of daffodils in their wake. It's beautiful, actually, and Claude reaches down to rub behind the closest flitten's ears before taking off his boots to feel them against his bare feet. When he walks now, there's daffodils, but he looks next door and it's a different flower entirely. He calls out to them. )

Hey! Want some daffodils? I apparently can just summon them now because we've got magical kittens roaming around. I've never done this before but it doesn't mean I can't be the best at it.

🍀SPRINGTIME CELEBRATIONS

( Claude has decided he wants to sit on one of the swings, long legs crossed in front of him, and after some urging he's started to weave a basket out of colored grasses and flowers. He has a glass of the fruit punch and has already downed a piece of the fruit pie - both are absolutely excellent. He's used to find food as the leader of the Alliance but this has a rustic charm to it that no one could resist. When someone joins him on his swing, he gives them a bright smile. )

What, no basket weaving? How else are we going to celebrate spring without an excess of flowers woven into rings and baskets and crowns? Go back right now and get some arts and crafts.

( It's teasing, of course, and Claude gives his seatmate a wink. )

Or you can just sit here and keep me company. That's fine too.

Springtime Celebrations

[Hilda notices Claude from several paces away, and for a moment can't believe her luck. (Almost) everyone here has been great and welcoming, but to have a familiar face--and one she knows well, at that--is a comfort and relief she didn't realize she needs. So of course, she'll approach as casually as she pleases, sitting in the swing next to him.

And, naturally, he greets her in a very Claude kind of way.]

Yeah, we both know I'm not doing that.

[She gives him a wide grin as she sips the punch she has in hand.]

How long have you been here hiding from me?

Hilda! Well, you know, I thought I'd hide in the woods for a month or two and just leave you notes and cryptic presents to see if you'd figure out I was here. It would have been a long game, you see, and you're definitely smart enough to have figured it out. In the end, though, I decided I wanted to be part of the festivities.

( If there's anyone he wants to share his swing with, it's Hilda, and he makes sure there's plenty of room for her there when she sits down next to him. It's so good to see her. )

So, really, I've only been here for a day. I couldn't help myself.

I appreciate you saving me the trouble of having to track you down. I totally would have figured it out, but it would have been work. That's the last thing I want to do in this little soul-vacation, or whatever they want to call it.

[It's so good to have Claude here. She can be a liiiiittle more honest about things, even if their relationship isn't necessarily built on honesty.]

I've been here for about a month now, so if there's anything you need I'm your woman. Within reason, of course.

Of course. I wouldn't want to make you work on our little vacation. It'd never be something I'd ask of you. We will do nothing but eat pie and enjoy the nice spring weather.

( Claude keeps it nice and breezy but truthfully, after a war and then organizing the Alliance and establishing ties with the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus has left him longing for a break and maybe this place is the way he's going to get it. )

Honestly? I think we've earned it.

[Her tone is light and breezy, but the sentiment is uncharacteristically honest. Hilda's of a similar mind as Claude--the war and its aftermath have been taxing, mentally and physically and emotionally. Being here in this fairy wonderland, even with its occasional weirdness and requests for help, has been a welcomed break from it.]

Lucky you, missing out on the cold and snow. Not my thing, personally.

Me neither. That sounds like weather for brooding and I think brooding is a bad look on me. It never suited me. I always look better with a smile.

( It suits Dimitri, though, and he wonders for a moment if he'll ever show up here. If anyone needs a break, it's probably him. )

So, is there a lot around here to make the fearsome Hilda smile?

[At that, Hilda laughs and playfully punches his arm.]

"Fearsome"? I am nothing of the sort, I'll have you know.

[Usually.]

As it happens, there's quite a bit that makes me smile here. I've made some new friends, found an adorable little café that I like to spend my time in, and have just... well, enjoyed the break from everything. I thought I'd miss urban bustle and shopping, but I kind of haven't? There's something really charming about how quaint this place is.

[The likes of Marianne would love it here, she thinks.]

I'll have to show you around later.

Not missing shopping? You're clearly not Hilda.

( It's joking and kind, though, and Claude pairs it with a smile. )

I'd like to see the place I'm stuck in for the time being. If it's as quaint as you say, I'll probably be bored without anything to fight but I'll take your word for it that it's as charming as you say. I could always do with friends, too, even if I'd be happy just to see you here.

[indolentaxe]

[That comment earns Claude a shove of her shoulder against his, equal parts affectionate and perturbed.]

Quiet, you.

[There's not an ounce of hostility in her voice, and she can't help but smile back.]

Somehow, I'm sure you'll be able to find plenty to do. There are a lot of unanswered questions to snoop around at, not least of which being how we all got here. The fae explained it, but there has to be more than that, you know?

And if you stick with me, you'll make all kinds of friends in no time.

I wasn't too satisfied with the fae explanation, no. I felt like there just had to be more to it than that. Besides, why bring the two of us? We have plenty to do back home.

( The Alliance isn't going to run itself, after all, and it seems strange this place would yank him away just when he is mired deep in negotiations to keep everything together. )

[She shrugs.]

Maybe they thought we deserved a vacation? Although according to them, we're like... a fragment of us? So we're still back home too, kind of?

[That part made no sense to her, frankly.]

I guess this is the part where I volunteer to be your right hand woman while you go snooping around, isn't it?

This is exactly the part where you volunteer to be my right hand woman while I snoop around. This is nice and all but I don't want to get too comfortable. Things are just too unsettled back home for me to be comfortable relaxing.

( If they're fragmented and part of them is still at home maybe things are being handled but it's still going to worry at Claude. )

I think you're right about the fragments, though. You're not missing at home like you would be if you'd just been taken.

( daffodils! the bright colors suit the other, she thinks. hers are pale pink peonies, and white lilies from another guest are scattered amongst her garden as well. shizuku smiles brightly- always brightly, always sincere- with a nod. )

By all means. And if you'd like some peonies in your own, I'd be happy to trade.

( The pale pink of the peonies compliments the bright, sunny yellow of his daffodils and Claude nods and waves her over. )

Come on over! I'm Claude, by the way, and I'm happy to make your garden have some daffodils in exchange of...pink? Sorry, I'm not too good with flowers.

Shizuku. It's nice to meet you! And these are peonies.

( they hadn't been what she'd expected of herself, but it was a nice surprie. and peonies smell lovely, anyways. shizuku is more than happy to step aside so claude can spread some daffodils, waving hello to the lingering flittens. )

( It's the strangest thing he's ever done, make flowers grow in another girl's garden with the help of magical kittens, but maybe it's just gonna be a regular thing in this place. If it is, it's definitely a vacation from home and being leader of the Alliance. )

Yours smell really nice. Maybe if I'm picking out flowers for a girl, these are the ones I'll go for now. Been here long, Shizuku?

Haha, you can't go wrong with a good flower! Pink peonies represent good luck and prosperity.

( among some much more romantic meanings, but let's not just overwhelm someone with the flower language right off the bat. besides, she only has pink- not the whole range.

Yeah? I don't think I knew that about peonies. Of course, I don't think I ever learned what flowers mean, just that they're a good gift for most girls.

( When she says she feels like she just woke up, Claude nods in agreement. )

Me too. It was the strangest thing. I went to sleep in my bed and woke up here - I'd think it was a dream - and I'm not ruling it out - but it feels real.

Well, I suppose it sort of is- the rest of us is back home, after all.

( she hopes that the real shizuku is having a good day, at least. )

Oh, but flower language is very fun. I don't think a lot of people consult it these days unless trying to invoke symbolism, but that sort of thing is interesting in general!

Flower language? Well, you're just going to have to teach me to speak it because that's one I don't know.

( Claude gives her a charming smile. )

( shizuku points to the daffodils claude is growing. )

Daffodils primarily represent new beginnings and rebirth, but they can also mean respect or unrequited love. Other meanings will vary culture to culture, however.

Unrequited love, huh? Well, I'm not in love with anyone, so far as I know.

( He gives her a cheeky smile, though, and a wink. )

Are you in love with me already, Shizuku?

[cheerfuldays]

Love takes time- and certainly more time than just a brief conversation.

( despite her words, her tone is gentle as she shakes her head. )

I'd be happy to call you a new friend, though.

A new friend is more than acceptable. It's good to meet you, Shizuku. You want to see if we can find someone else with different flowers? We could get some more colors going.

( The carpet of yellow and pink is beautiful, though, and it's only a desire to meet someone else that makes him think that it needs more. )
