In your land, there may be stories of the Fae taking people away. Perhaps you haven't heard of the Fae at all, or perhaps you are more familiar with them than others. No matter how well acquainted you are with the Fae, everyone around you has experienced the same fate tonight: Being taken by them. Partially, at least. For they did not want to kidnap anyone from their home and take them away from the life they knew. In a small jar of fairy dust, part of your soul was taken in the night and brought to a magical village by the name of Fable.

On arrival, the Fae release you from the jar before waving their magic wands, and materialise this taken little part of you into a brand new you. From here onwards, your new life begins, shared among magical creatures from all walks of life. Here, you will be allowed to grow, thrive and enjoy the bounties provided to you by these mysterious and wonderful creatures. In exchange, they ask for a share of the magical fruit that you grow in your garden, in order for their dragon overseer to reclaim his own magic and find his missing siblings. After a briefing on your new life, you understand things as best as you possibly can. Now, it's time to settle into a brand new cottagecore life.

Now that you are a resident of Fable, you have a brand new cottage, a garden, and a few tools to use! There's not an awful lot in your cottage, though: Just a cardboard box, a lamp, a cassette tape and a single bed. Fortunately, though, it seems that your kitchen is stocked with ingredients. Enough to make a pie, at least! Most of the village shops are currently closed due to the bad weather, so it seems like socialising with your neighbours might be your best shot at finding something to do.

Something sparkly catches your attention before you realise it's a message board, advertising an array of tasks for bonus fruit. Did this thing appear out of nowhere just now? That must be the case, since you can swear it wasn't there a second ago. Perhaps the board will urge you to find some fellow people who are in a similar situation as you. The cold weather might inspire you to go fishing in the river canals, have a snowball fight, make warm drinks for people, get active in the kitchen or go sledding!

Or, just ... do whatever you want! This is your magical home now, might as well make the most of it!

While wandering through the village, you suddenly hear a voice appear out of nowhere. "Help ..." The voice speaks, rather ominously, which might alarm you. "Turn around ..." It says again, which may send shivers down your spine that aren't related to the cold. "Now, come closer. No, closer. Closer!" Jeez! You know this place is filled with magical creatures, but what on earth is taunting you at the moment? You can't see anything! There's just a Snowman in front of you.

"Hello." Wait, did that Snowman just--? "I am a Snowman." He did. He talked to you.

"I am lonely. Please build me some friends." Well, it's not like you have anything better to do ... "I will give you a reward if you do. Come to me when you have built, and I will give you a reward." Seems simple enough. You almost walk away to get started, until--

"HOLD IT!" He yells, very loudly for a Snowman. "You must use teamwork to build a Snowperson. The best Snowpeople are made with friends. Find a friend and build a Snowperson for me. Thank you."

Well, there you have it! You have been tasked with finding someone to build a Snowperson with. And of course, because these Snowfolk are magic, they're going to be quite particular about how they want to be built. They may berate you and act fussy during the process. You must divide the work between you and your acquaintance in order to complete your Snowperson. Get creative with hats, scarves, shapes, face designs - and whatever else you think the Snowperson should have!

Your final result will produce either an immaculate (or terrible) Snowtyke, Snowboy, Snowmam or Snowman who will reward you both with a random piece of winter furniture and an extra surprise!

In Finnish mythology, it is believed that the Northern Lights (Revontulet) are the creation of a fox who runs across the night sky. In Fable, this very same fox is the one responsible for the Northern Lights of their skies - and while he spends a lot of his time away from the realm to decorate the skies of many other places, he returns every Winter for a fantastic show (and incredible party!)

To celebrate his return, Fable's residents gather in Skáld to host a ball and have a big party beneath the lights. And you have been invited! No need to worry about travel - with your magical invitation, you can be poofed there in an instant! In an act of generosity, the Fox of the Northern Lights has temporarily given you a dose of his magic in order for you to join in the fun! While the party is ongoing, you will have a glowing pair of aurora wings which allow flight, a dazzling new outfit, an immunity to the cold, and the ability to create aurora streaks in the sky!

The moment you accept the invitation and arrive in Skáld, the magical effects from the Aurora Fox will activate! Shimmering sparkles will envelope you before you find yourself wearing a brand new outfit and accessories for the evening, and they really are very sparkly! Your floating aurora wings spawn behind you in any colour, and just like that, you're ready for the party! Don't worry about the outfit you were wearing prior to this, it has been transported back to your wardrobe in your cottage. With magic, of course!

The party runs for a few days, and it's a lot bigger than you imagined. Just how many mythological creatures are attending? You and the otherwordly attendees will be staying in a nearby wooden lodge that has been upscaled with magic in order to accommodate its large guests. The lodge has spacious rooms, complimentary meals, and even a heated outdoor pool!

The party itself takes place on a mountain adjacent to the lodge with an outdoor ballroom, Troll DJs playing through the night (with both upbeat and slow music), a bonfire, a food buffet and a bar!

Fancy a drink? There are cocktails and mocktails being served all night by the Troll bartenders! Who knew Trolls were so good at mixing drinks? Cocktails and mocktails are exactly the same in taste, except mocktails don't have any alcohol in them. If your character doesn't like to drink, they can still enjoy the tasty beverage without getting drunk!

Regardless of alcohol content, however, each drink will have a funny effect on the person consuming it.
Pink Pixie will make people feel more flirty and sensual, Minty Manticore will make people hyperactive and chatty, Blue Bunyip will give them a case of the blues by inspiring a little bit of sadness, and Purple Pegasus will make them sentimental and emotional.

[Tsubaki had been considering giving it a try, but if she was being honest, she'd only done basic cooking to get her by. She could at least manage to feed herself, but whether or not that it was good was a whole different matter. She was lost in her thoughts before hearing someone speak to her.]

H-Huh? Me?

[Looking around... Unless he was talking to himself...]

I uh... I'm not sure if I can. It does sound like fun, though. [A moment.] As long as you don't mind someone who's not used to cooking, I would be glad to try.

[schmoozing]

Trying is the first hurdle anyway! I'd be more than happy to show you around the kitchen a little bit. Cooking and baking can be really relaxing, as long as nothing goes wrong of course...

[He gestures to go, so they can get started.]

...but I'm sure it'll be fine. You have to start somewhere after all.

That would be appreciated, actually. There are a number of things I'd like to do here, now that I have to time. Cooking and baking happens to be one of those things.

I'm Thoma. It's a pleasure to meet you! Let's go, my cottage is just over there.

[He'll lead Tsubaki to his cottage that is nearby, opening the door for her to go in.]

Don't mind the place too much, I haven't really had a chance to put anything in it. By the way, since you're interested in learning more about cooking and baking, I actually have a little experience giving classes on this sort of stuff. Granted, it was about housekeeping, but cooking definitely falls into that category.

[dancinglight]

[Following him close by, she entered his cottage with a polite thank you.]

'Tis no worry. My cottage is rather sparse as well. I haven't been able to do anything fun with mine just yet.

[She tilted her head slightly to the side in response, tail jingling ever so slightly in interest.]

Really? Well, I think housekeeping would be very beneficial as well. I've never had a place of my own like this. I mostly moved from one place to another. I think the closest thing I've had in the past to a home was an apartment in Kugane.

[And even then, she had a hard time just keeping ends meet while trying to find various jobs to keep herself above water.]

[schmoozing]

Really? If you ever want any pointers, feel free to ask me. Making someplace really feel like a home is more rewarding than you might think.

[But, when he thinks about it...]

Though, don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say that having a life on the road is bad either. I have a few friends that do just that. Adventuring and exploring the world is just as much as a profession as anything else.

[He's not sure if that's what she was doing, but it's the closest thing he can think of in comparison!]

It sounds rewarding, I just never really had the chance to set down roots. I did try the adventuring route for a while before I was given a much more important task. Saving the world is not as glamorous as it's cracked up to be.

[That's not to say she regrets becoming the Warrior of Light or doing the many deeds she has with the help of her friends. It was more that she was just tired.]

But I intend on taking advantage of the time off to do something for myself for a change.

[schmoozing]

I hope that you'll have all the time in the world here. Seems to me like this just might be a dream come true in that case.

[He knows he's going to be doing the same thing, even though he will still take on his role to attend to the Shirasagi Himegimi.]

I guess today's a great start to that, huh? You know...

[He taps his chin.]

We don't have to make a pie, we could do something else that you might prefer to learn about. Or, we could cook something completely different instead. I could show you some easy recipes from my homeworld too.

[dancinglight]

[Tapping her index finger to chin for a moment, considering her options...]

I don't mind baking a pie, but I'd be interested in your recipes as well. It doesn't matter to me which we do. I'd be learning all the same. What would you prefer to do?

[schmoozing]

Hmmm...why don't we do an Inazuman-style apple pie, and meet in the middle?

[He's aware of how different it is in comparison to the more commonly-known Mondstadt pie, but this is just as good.]

Can I put you in charge of prepping the apples? I'll take care of making the crust. This kind of pie is a little, let's say, flatter than what you're probably used to seeing. I'm not sure about the gastronomy of your world.

[dancinglight]

It sounds delicious! No problem!

[She'll start with washing the apples. Rolling up her sleeves, she got to work. After the apples were thoroughly washed, she began to carefully cut them into small chunks.]

[schmoozing]

[Meanwhile, he works on the pie crust! He's done it lots of times, so it's pretty easy to get it all together. Meanwhile, Thoma decides to strike up a conversation other than cooking- after all, that's part of getting to know your neighbors, right?]

I know you mentioned before that you never really got the chance to settle somewhere because you were saving the world...what do mean by that? If you don't mind me asking, of course.

[Because you can't just drop that and not get asked about it!]

[She's used to talking about her journey as the Warrior of Light, so she didn't particularly mind. She did mention it, after all. Making sure the cores are out of the apples...]

Ah well... It's a little bit of a long story, but to understand it, I'd have to tell you about Hydaelyn.

[There was a part of her that wanted to call a different name ever since her time in Elpis, but she managed to catch herself.]

The long and short of it is that Hydaelyn is portrayed as a benevolent god of sorts. She watches over those on Etheirys, protecting them. There's more to Her than that, but that's the basic gist of it. She has gifted me Her blessing of Light, naming me Her champion so to speak.

[She says that, but very nonchalantly since she did not care for making a big deal out of it.]

And through that blessing and the various tasks I helped with along the way, all sorts of people have placed their faith in trust in me to solve all manner of problems, big and small. Some of those included slaying primals that feed upon the earth and enslaving those nearby by tempering them. What started as protecting the peace eventually just escalated to bigger problems over time.

[With the apples cut, she gave out a little sigh.]

Uniting Eorzea slowly and winning back homelands from imperial oppression, to name a few. We saved another world from the brink of death. If it had been lost to Darkness, all life would have ceased to exist. And then there were the Final Days.

[She set the apple pieces in a bowl and turn to him to set it off to the side with an apologetic smile.]

I know it's a lot to take in. I can hardly wrap my head around it sometimes myself. It never just gets better. There is a lull before something worse comes along. And even still, I wouldn't take it back. Even if the peace is not as long as I would like, if I can make people's lives safer and overall better, I will give it my all.

[Perhaps too much, at the end of the day. The girl runs herself ragged.]

[Thoma listens thoughtfully and carefully while she speaks, working on finishing his part of the pie process. He can think of someone who would probably relate quite well with Tsubaki's situation, and he mentally makes a note to introduce her to him while they both reside here in this new world.

Otherwise, despite her incredibly abridged version of what had happened back in Etheirys, he can still catch the gravity of it all. Having participated in a revolution so to speak himself, he nods back at her.]

That's very noble of you to sacrifice so much just for the betterment of others, and serving your god so faithfully. You'll have to excuse me for saying so, but I can see the weight of your journey on your shoulders. I hope that you'll find respite here, starting with this simple pie recipe.

[Finishing the dough, it gets wrapped and put in the fridge for the time being to chill.]

I have a friend here that I think you should meet. His journey sounds a little similar to your own- I think the two of you would become fast friends.

That is the biggest understatement of the year rofl

[It was a shame that it was childhood trauma that caused her to turn out this way. She just wanted to make up for her mistakes and protect those in need. To those they have lost. To those they can yet save.]

Of course, there's a lot more to it, but that's a very long story. I just... want to help whomever I can. I will gladly take this break and whatever I can learn here.

Oh really? I would be interested in meeting him, then.

[Realizing that she got caught up in talking...]

Oh right! The apples are prepared. What else do we need to do?

[She's not going to make him do everything. After all, she was learning and the best way to do that was to actually do something.]
